Oh - it is so going to be a cereal for dinner night tonight. I'm exhausted from the weekend. Husband is out of town this week which makes me a single parent. Yep, kids will be happy with an easy meal like this one.

Saturday was the 10K with my husband. I realized that morning that this was my first 10K ever. I've run 5Ks, a few half-marathons, a marathon, and a handful of 24-hour-type races, but I've never run a 10K...weird. I took it easy the first 5K and then worked in some intervals on the next 3K, and then just kept on chugging through the last 2K. I finished in 57:34...best pace per mile I've ever run an event! I was just pleased to finish under an hour, and with a time like this, I made that goal with room to spare :-)

Then yesterday we did a LOT of yard work. We took down 4 trees in our yard. Between moving brush, logs, and managing the kids, we are exhausted today. It's actually nice to get to work as I have a desk job and I get to SIT for a while.

My turn to bring in treats for my son's after-school program tomorrow. Any ideas that are easy and reasonably healthy (but fun enough the kids will EAT it)?

Not sure what my workout at lunch time will be today. My calves are still yelling at me. I'll have to either focus on an upper body workout today...or take the day off?!?!

I think you deserve a day off after all of that work too. Congrats on your 10k time, that's awesome.

Awesome results for the 10k, you rock!!! For your son's after school snack you could make rice crispy squares or yogurt and fruit cups?? Good luck!!

One blog I found for "healthy" snacks that don't look healthy is "Chocolate-Covered Katie" ....just click on Recipes and a whole bunch of pics pop up....everything from cookies to bars to homemade peanut butter cups...

Wow...thanks for the support! We had a fun run. My husband and I did split up this time. He was running in a special division for public safety/first responders/etc so I didn't want to slow him up. He finished in 51:54 taking 2nd in his age division and winning the special division. I'm proud of him! Thanks for the snack ideas...I'll look into some of these recipes!

Great job on the 10K! If you're sore, I say rest. There's always tomorrow and after such a "full tilt" weekend, I think your body would thank you for some down time.

usually at my kids after school program they give out fresh fruit, pretzel sticks, graham crackers or those yogurt push up things (can't remember what they are called exactly) or whole wheat crackers and string cheese

Continued thanks. I think I will be taking the day off. It's reassuring to hear from those of my FS buddies that inspire me tell me it's OK to take a time out. I spent my lunch hour, instead, picking up goodies for my son's school. NEXT time I'll be sure to give myself more time to prepare something, so please keep the ideas coming!

I love ants on a log. Celery with peanut butter and raisins on top.

No suggestions.. I think the ants on a log sounds fun. And I agree you deserve a rest.
