wholefoodnut's Journal, 07 July 2014

Temp is 95 heat index over 100 and very humid, two storm fronts looking like they are colliding later over the area. Could be a rocky night with the weather radio going off. Not much energy after work. Needed to get a few bills taken care of so sat down to get that done, the little energy I had seeped away. Knees and neck are a bit stiff and achy but not bad.

Ate some easy dinner, not much fresh in the house; need to go shopping. Tried my hula hoop hanging in the garage, it's a small kids one, did not work well.

Picked the few raspberries that were left, looked like I lost quite a few by them getting really and falling off over the weekend. 3 more ripe cherry tomatoes, put them aside for my lunch tomorrow.

Weather radio started going off a few minutes after I went to sleep and every little bit until almost mid-night. Wanted to shut it off but it's wiser to leave it on just in case. 60-70 mph wind gusts with sustained 40-50mph lots of hard rain. Makes for not enough sleep.

Hope the weather improved enough to let you sleep some, my friend! I'm certainly enjoying sleeping in my own bed again! xoxox

Hula hoop! OMG... I would love to try one of those

I can't imagine being that hot. Time for a bigger hula hoop?

My daughter just took up hula dancing so I've been trying to hula hoop with her hoops. I.can.not.do.it. I used to hula hoop for it seemed like hours and now...? nothing! Ugh, so frustrating! I had a dinner party last week and my four 30-something brothers were hooping all over the deck. What the heck?!?! What is wrong with me?!?! Hopefully the weather will calm down and the hula hooping will perk up for us both!

I joined the hula hoop challenge just for fun. The hula hoop I have I bought for the grandkids. Not positive yet if it's the size or just me:)).. Absolutely beautiful day today; sunny, less humidity, and 85. Lots of wind damage around the area, nothing at my house just chairs tipped over and a few outside items tossed around the yard. An empty container had 4 inches of water in it this am.

Probably was the same storm cell. I'm in Champaign, just outside of...well nowhere. Champaign is the largest city in the area :P

I know where it is, university of Illinois. Had a roommate that lived in a tiny farm town near there when I was in college, don't remember the name of it.

Yep that's the one. Oh pick a town, they are all just tiny farm towns. I just found out they call Urbana (Champaign's twin city) East Berkley. fits. Sadly my people were here before the university, and we all forgot to leave.

Smiles, college towns can be like that. Mine just gets the tourists in the summer, Truman Library is just a few blocks from my house.

Oh that sounds interesting! I've only been to the Lincoln museum in Springfield. Summer is the best time of year for us townies.

Wholefoodnut - I knew the weather sounded familiar! I'm in St. Joe, just north of you!

Really Nikki, I used to live there. Then we moved into the country, outside union star and then outside Clarksdale. Moved there in 1979 then to lees summit in 96.

I've been to bunch of the Lincoln attractions in Springfield but not the library, we ran out of time. Was at a convention there and spent a bit of time exploring.

Take the last train to Clarksdale and I'll meet ...oh wait that was Clarksville. Did I mention I have adhd? I get there every now and then. It's one of the few redeeming things about living in Illinois. When you are in fourth grade you get to go on a field trip there. One of my favorite memories as a kid. Springfield has a pretty high crime rate, but it's just because of the governors. THANK YOU! I'm here all week, tip your waitresses. Oh man I'm tired.

i love living in illinois. i find there are many redeeming things, and it doesn't need to be redeemed. i live in chicago. i guess that is different than downstate. i love the city life. i'm a real city girl.

Too funny about the springfield crime rate! Chicago has much to offer, so if it fits you that's great!! I used to live in the heart of Boston but I'm basically a country kid (grown up sort of, 65 tomorrow) living in the city. Independence is a small city that runs smack into kansas city. I live in a quiet little neighborhood with my back yard adjoining a park's woods, creek, and rarely used field. Often watch deer, wild turkey, and the red foxes outside my fence. There is an eagle's nest not far as I live on a missouri river bluff so I get to watch them play in the thermals.
