I'm finding it so hard to stop eating chocolate... any tips? I'm a guy who does so much exercise (I ran a half marathon in 90 minutes two weeks ago), but chocolate has become my weakness. I would most definitely have very nice abs if it weren't for this terrible habit that I started having about six months ago...

I think that I would be able to drop 8 pounds in a week easily if it weren't for this.

Thanks :)

The number one thing is to get it out of your house. If you can't there are others ways of dealing with it. Go to google and type in "Psychology Today Use Your Mind to Change Your Brain". I would post the link but they don't let you do it anymore on here. It's a good article and if you keep googling, you will find others too.

what do you think about if during the marathon it starts huring? Look at the chocolate and think about THAT. its the same pain, but you have it in you to beat it. Just like when you are running! just now

Look at the type of chocolate you're eating. Personally, I eat a lot more milk chocolate when I have that as the option than I do 80% or up chocolate. I don't return for more pieces of the dark chocolate, either.

This may sound odd,however...when I was a teen every time I ate chocolate my face "broke out with a "Zit" I'm now 65 yrs old,and chocolate still will do it,and as an old lady I don;t need that. try ju-jubes or nuts (trail mix) Good luck!

Hey gang, thanks so much! I appreciate your support :) I'm still struggling. Today I ate 3 small packs of M&Ms, which have less fat, so I'm improving (hahaha). Suzi161: Yes! Thank you so much for the article, I'm sure it will be very helpful. Do you have any other suggestions of articles I should read? :) puhpine: that's a good analogy! ah, it's going to be difficult (like the marathon) but I think it will be very helpful to think about it this way. sarasnoodles: I have been eating the type of chocolate that you don't want to let your friends know. The "shameful" chocolate :P . I'll look into that and try to switch to healthier stuff progressively (and also to lower my "dosage"). 1mountainmomma: thanks so much! that's really helpful. i'm trying to find a substitute. I think that if I can stop eating chocolate for a week I'll be able to quit my "addiction". maybe ju-jubes or nuts will do the trick, it's a matter of trying (trying hard!). Again, I appreciate your support:)
