Eating on the go...
I have been on the road for the past year and eating healthy can be a huge challenge. Here's what has worked for me...Panera Bread the You Pick 2...the calories are on the menu and its good/healthy food, Chick-fil-a just ordering the 8 or 12 count chicken nuggets (they have fruit cups, salads, and wraps too)...those are my 2 favorite "fast food" options. If you have time to sit down for a minute or two then look for a Greek or Mediterranean place, just stick to ordering a kabob or two of chicken and skip the rice unless you can keep yourself from eating it all (rice was my weakness!)

Now that I am no longer on the road my food choices have changed but only slightly...I now eat either a banana or boiled egg for breakfast, then a few peanut butter crackers as a snack, lunch for me is a turkey sandwich (same as I use to order at Panera) and a resses mini then dinner is usually a chicken breast and asparagus or a chicken kabob at a greek place. I do allow myself to eat "bad" every once in a while and I'll have my beloved pasta or rice or even eat fast food like taco bell! I don't keep myself from anything that I love...If I do then I crave it so bad that I break down a stuff myself full with it...You've just gotta find out what works best for you!

Good Luck and hope I helped

Pixidaisy-

I forgot to state this in my not "normal" life post...I don't have days off...maybe 1 or 2 a month if that...If I'm not working I'm not making money so I work, work, work!!!

I said I can eat them everyday...Its just my way of not having to deprive myself of what I enjoy...dieting sucks and I'm not trying to diet...I'm trying to make a lifestyle change and this is how I do it...I would much rather eat Panera Bread over McDonalds but sometimes ya just crave what is bad for ya so I eat a small portion of it instead of eating "good" and still wanting McDonalds (which with me will lead to me eating it anyway just bc I want to taste it and not bc I'm actually hungry).

I'm glad to see that you go thru somewhat of the same thing I do with being at work for long hours. And I make smart choices about my food on a daily basis...even if I go somewhere that is horrible for me (McDonalds or a buffet) I still eat smart. You mention Subway as being a better choice than McDonalds but honestly you can eat just a poorly at Subway as you can anywhere else...its all about self control and knowing what you are about to consume. The grocery store is a bad bad place for me...it has all of my favorite things (cakes, cookies, cupcakes, bread...etc) so I avoid the grocery store & deli like the plague...My boyfriend on the other hand is much better off going to the grocery store vs. a drive thru...Its all just what works best for you personally.

Yes, you did come off attacking and thank you for apologizing...And I'm not staying at 800-1000 calories long term...just until I hit my goal weight and then I will bump them back up. Once i maintain a weight for about a week my body will stay at that weight even when I start eating more calories. So I will start eating more when I get there...

Did the statement in bold say that I only eat those things??? My point in that statement was that you can diet and still eat your favorite things...thats all.

And if you would read some of the previous posts you would see that I explained how my life is not "normal" but I will explain again. Here goes... I am an insurance adjuster, I live on the road going from city to city and hotel to hotel everyday of my life...I do not have a place that I call home...our home is our car and whatever hotel we are in for the night. That being said, I do not have a stove, oven, microwave, fridge or any other appliance that would be in a "normal" kitchen. Therefore I am forced to eat out on a daily basis. I work extremely long hours and when I am not working I want to just relax and do nothing before my next long day beings. I do not get a lunch break and hardly have a potty break...So that is how my life is not "normal".

I agree with you on the not caring what the scale says as long as you are happy with what your body looks like. I am the same way...105 is just a number and if I reach what I want my body to look like before that point then great and if not then I will keep trucking along until I get to that point.

I also agree with you on the BMI chart but I will say it is a place to start if you are not the overly muscled person who that chart does not work.

And high school skinny will still look good on my age and body type...

Sbromwich- Not sure if your post was directed toward me but if so...Thank you and if not oh well lol.

Carbs use to be my weakness but I have somehow overcome that and no longer CRAVE them like I use to. I prefer chicken instead of pasta and in the past i would have killed someone for their bowl of pasta. I believe my food choices have really changed my weight and cravings...I rarely eat pastas and breads and cookies like I use to and have now replaced them with meats, for the most part.
