Hi jademarie. I think antidepressants tend to put weight on, depending on what type it is. You may want to google the name and see if that is one of the side effects. There are some out there that don't have that effect.

Your caloric intake and cardio for the last six weeks with no weight loss is not physically possible (IMHO) Use this program to record each caloric intake as it happens. No guessing. Double check your RDI for accuracy. Take in 500 calories a day less than your RDI. If you do this you will lose, over a period of time (about a week but certainly less than 6 weeks) one pound. If you still can't lose weight, the answers you need are not on this website but at a medical facility. Good Luck

I heard the birth control shot can really cause quite a weight gain for some women. Combined with your other medications you may have quite a struggle on your hands. If you are being completely accurate with your caloric intake and are working out as often as you say you should see some loss even if it is slow. I agree with Glaun...you may need to seek additional help.

Jademarie, what are you eating... what you eat is also very important. Remember to eat more protein than carbs. Cut down on fat intake as well. Caloric intake is important but so is macro nutrients. I am a body builder and have discovered you can drop the weight quicker if you lower your fat intake, take in more complex carbs, and increase protein. Here is a great ratio I used that worked for me:

Total Calories: Current Weight x 10= for me 126x10 = 1,260 calories
Protein: Total Calories x 50 percent = for me 630 calories from protein = 157.5 grams
Carbs (complex not simple): Total Calories x 30 percent = for me 378 calories = 94.5 grams protein
Fats (healthy fats): Total Calories x 20 percent = for me 252 calories = 28 grams

Try adding some resistance training to your exercise routine as well. Muscles help burn fat.
Hope this helps.. It transformed my body

Thanx peeps...its really disheartening as I've put so much effort in!! I track my ckal protein and carbs on my fitness pal app so im getting exactly wat i need I've read that for my ckal intake i should b taking 2100 so now I've used my ckal to 1600 500 less than wat i should be on. im also gluten free so don't eat much simple carbs i eat meat and carbs...im hoping that my body has gone into starvation on 1300 as no weight off at all and im very strict!! i think it may be my medication...or thyroid guna get tested next week.fingers crossed!" x

hi Jade,

i think your calories are too low. so your metabolism has begun to slow down. Try increasing carbs by 5g every day, i guarantee you will start to lose weight again.

If you are very strict and that low on cal and exercising and still not losing...you are likely having side effects from all your medication. You haven't been on your diet long enough to be in "starvation mode"...if that really and truly exists unless you are diagnosed with a metabolic disorder. Your body has fat stores it can use before that will happen. If you are not losing weight then your body is not tapping into those stores and that is what you need it to do. You may also have an under active thyroid which it seems you are getting tested for. A friend of mine upped her protein when her thyroid was found underactive (she did Dukan with me) and she started to lose weight. Not as quickly as I could but she did lose weight. Talk to your doctor and get his/her thoughts on it. If you have a diet log show them and ask how you can change it.
