If your face is already lean, you don't have to worry about losing more weight there.

You will lose weight where the fat cells are Smile So no worries!

You always lose weight where there are less fat cells first, which is usually your face and neck, then you will notice your arms, etc. The tummy is going to take a lot of aerobic exercise to lose, such as walking, jogging, swimming, treadmill, etc. Also do some toning exercises to tighten the stomach muscles. Don't get discouraged!!!

I don't know about losing weight where there are less fat cells first. I am not an expert. But my gym trainer told me that "spot reducing" is a myth. When the body loses weight by reducing calories, then the weight loss is over the entire body. So spot reducing, such as massaging the belly, is of no help. However, as the previous poster said, exercising the muscles around the problem areas by aerobics is a real winner in hardening those areas.

It is impossible to tell the body where to lose the fat, but, reducing processed foods, and this usually means carbs, is one way of reducing belly fat. No white! sugars, flours, or starches. and alcohol. Add in good nutritional clean real foods and you'll see a difference. good luck.

Who is doing the complaining about your face looking thinner? They should be applauding your efforts to lose weight instead of making negative comments.

I understand the frustration when the weight starts to come off but not where you want to lose it the most! My weight comes off in the upper body, and chest , and lower body first. For some reason it doesn't come off as easily around the middle. I am thinking the muscles in the abdomen are the muscles that get worked the least.

If you are not at a healthy weight then be persistent. Don't give up. That belly fat will eventually start to come off.

that's sort of contradictory isn't it?

fat will come off everywhere at the same time and same amount , we tend to store more fat around our stomachs so hence its the last to go.

burn more than you eat, the last 10+lbs are the hardest to lose

I tend toward hourglass (curvy hourglass, but still even). As soon as I start to lose weight it comes off the top part. I can go down a full two sizes in my chest before my belly and behind. I wish I could control where it came off first, that would be great.

When i look at your diet history it's hard to understand what you're 'own diet' is...I would advise that you start by eliminating all whites.. white four white sugar and white starches.... eliminate processed foods and add in natural good healthy foods. when you do this you lower your insulin levels and your cortisol levels which are the fat storing hormones that increase your belly fat.

I have moved from trying to lose weight into eating the most healthful way I can. I don't eat any processed foods, only organic fruits and veggies and try to keep it to local only. Organic potatoes are delicious and you need to eat the skin to get the nutrients. If i eat pasta it's either spelt or rice and I make it myself but it can be bought at health food stores, wild rice and mixes that have nutritional value are okay too. When you strip a grain of the husk you remove all the nutrional value, and that's why i don't eat white. If you like message me and we can continue on this conversation , and keep this thread for advice to esther about her original question.

Make mash from cauliflower, baby marrows, sweet potatoes or butternut. Beans, whole or mashed also work well.

and yes, it is a contradiction Spacey. There are certain foods that are high in the glycemic index that cause the fat storing hormones to be released, cortisol and insulin. It has been found that certain foods that do this are the simple carbs as well as things like orange juice , especially from concentrate, and whole wheat products. When these sugars are turned into fat they are stored in the belly region and so we hope by eliminating them that the belly fat will disappear.
When you eat an orange you are getting fibre and this slows down the amount of sugars so lowers the glycemic jump. But when you drink the juice, unless you make it yourself, the fibre is taken out and all that is left is the concentrate which is basically fruit sugars, this causes a high spike and goes to fat.

Umm no offense but that is wrong info.Your metabolism stays elevated for 24 to 48 hours after resistance training with machines or light weights. Calories burned doing cardio are just that, calories burned, your base line metabolism goes back to normal. you are always better doing resistance training for the purpose of long term fat burning. With that being said, cardio is excelent to do with your resistance training.
