lifting weights on a low carb ketogenic diet

I'm thinking of exercising fasted, then taking some broad chain amino acids & a whey protein isolate shake within half an hour after? Do you think that sound like a good idea?

I didn't want to eat before hand as I want my body to burn fat during the work out. Does the body cannibalize muscle (for glycogen) while lifting weights on a ketogenic diet? Or does it just use fatty acids for energy?

June 08 Month 1: 298 lb (20 lb. lost). July 08 Month 2: 291 lb (7 lb. lost). August 08 Month 3: 279 lb (12 lb. lost). September 08 Month 4: 268 lb (11 lb. lost). October 08 Month 5: 257 lb (11 lb. lost). November 08 Month 6: 248 lb (9 lb. lost). December 08 Month 7: 235 lb (13 lb. lost).

From my understanding, your body will utilize glycogen stores, ketones and fat when fasted only if you have been on a ketogenic diet for a period of time. I personally like a little carb after my kick boxing class as I have found it aids in my recovery and I just feel better (vs being grouchy while my body processes fat for gluconeogenesis from ketones). This is just my personal experience though, maybe the shake will be enough.

I always exercise fasted in the morning and wait until my next meal to eat. Eating before and/or after exercise will encourage your body to build more muscle while maintaining fat.

Bodybuilders and powerlifters always eat before and after their workout for that reason, because they don't want to lose weight they have worked so hard to gain.

KCal ... Total Cal ... and workout Cal
Can someone explain what KCal means? ... and if I workout ... where do the Net Cal come from and what is minused. Not sure I am figuring things correctly. Any insight to this would be great!

I agree with berley1, think outside the box. I will eat tonights leftovers, ribs and broccoli for breaky next day... Agree with having a look at induction food list and eat whatever you want from that ...
