Too much or just right?

When I decided to diet I weighed in at 230 lbs and 6ft tall.
I decided maybe a realistic goal would be to lose 30 lbs by the end of April then maybe work further from there.
( My ultimate goal is 180 )

After the first few days I weighed and checked in and it said I am losing an average of 2.5 lbs per day. Is that considered a lot or okay? Also do you think 30 lbs in about a month is reasonable or should I set lower?

That's kind of fast. You should expect your rate of loss to slow down to 1-2 pounds a week.

To lose 1 pound a day, you'd have to be at a 3500 calorie deficit every day. That's just not realistic - even for a starvation diet. Slow and steady wins the weight loss race. I took 50 weeks to lose 53 pounds.

I've only heard of people who had bariatric surgery who lost that much weight in a week. Remember, your organs all need calories to function too.

Since you've just started, it is more likely a reflection of fluid loss and the initial shock to your system. It should naturally slow down.

When I started I initially dropped that fast to, but it leveled off now and so I only lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. Congrats on the weight loss.
Tomorrow is fresh with no mistakes in it.

Sorry I took so long to reply to these but lifes been hectic lately. I see one mistake I was making. I saw where it said 3500 cals and thought it meant I need to eat that much and that seemed impossible. When counting calories I was barely getting past 1200-1500 before I felt like I cant eat no more. Now I know and can adjust accordingly. Thanks for the info/help/advice.

Also, please keep in mind that the "losing/gaining so-and-so-much" thingy on our bio page has a mind of its own. I have had it claiming that I was gaining 35 lbs per week. Very Happy
