It never fails to amaze me how few calories i need to maintain my large frame as compared to how many calories my brain tells me I need.

I started at about your weight 192. I'm female 65, have a smell frame and work at a desk all day but try to be fairly active when I'm not at work. I had to trim my calories down to averaging 1200 ...

Right, I wouldn't pay anyone. Find a plan that works and stick to it. There are lots of books at the library. Track your food on FS.

Low carb question
I try to keep mine to 30g net per meal and lost 25 lbs in 2 -2 1/2 months. The nurse on my diabetes team recommended 45 per meal and 15 for snacks. I might add a few after I reach my weight loss goal ...
