Have chronic pain medical condition - fibromyalgia, hard to lose weight

Just wanted to reach out to those who have any type of chronic pain condition - it is making it difficult to lose weight. I tried Weight Watchers but only lost 5 lbs in 6 months.

Am trying to not eat dairy, eating protein, vegs and fruits..so far only lost 3 lbs in 3 weeks...am getting discouraged.
I crave carbs since having fibromyalgia, very hard to get through day without some type of sweets or chips...I drink water and diet soda and am trying to give up diet soda, know it is not helping me lose weight.

Any of you that are also struggling with the same reasons, please let me know if you are having success and what you are doing!!Very Happy Wink

I have had some chronic pain issues for awhile now. In 2012 when I began my weight loss (the extra 100 lbs. I had at the time), along with the sedentary lifestyle I had made exercise something that seemed out of reach at the time. My knees and breathing just would not let me do much. So I started working on Tai Chi which I had done when I was younger. Found a local instructor or two and began the practice all over again. The exercise calculators online alleged that it burns very little calories but it worked. Not that I am thinner and it restored my health I do other forms of exercise just to cultivate energy. There are even sitting Tai Chi DVDs you can get if that is where you can begin. I highly recommend it as a starting place.

I have pain ranging from joint pain to pain from abdominal scar tissue. I don't have quite as much weight to lose, but suffering from pain can make it hard for anyone. The scar tissue pain is relatively new for me and since Thanksgiving I gained around 10 lbs, and that was mostly from being sedentary and partly from stress eating. When I exercise it does help me work through the pain. Is it ever painful to exercise? Sure it is, but I usually feel good when I'm done and keep it low impact if it's a bad day. Also, stretching feels amazing so that is always a good reward at the end of my workout. Tonight I'm going for a walk. It's not a hard workout, but it will burn calories, will take stress away to keep me from eating, and is not hard on my body. Just because we have pain issues doesn't mean we can't be healthy or do healthy things. We just have to stick to getting those healthy foods in and get the exercise in where we can. Good luck!!

Do 20 consecutive push-ups
Use 10 lb. weights for a whole workout
Run 1 mile without stopping
Get stronger physically and mentally

Chronic pain is not nice, used to be an issue for me. I came up with my own way of eating that fits me. However, it turns out it fits closely into Mayo Clinic's anti-inflammatory plan and several others geared to anti inflammatory. Worth checking to see if it helps. Fibro is considered linked to inflamation as is arthritis, asthma, and many other chronic health issues. Sticking with my plan helps my whole body.

Team, This post hit. home I have fibro too everyday there is some degree. of pain! Since. I've. Been on plan my engery level has increased. and my. pain is not as accute as before ! I have started to move more whitch. Helps ! I have noticed that the more junk I eat the worst I feel....not to mentîon this extra weight. Makes life too hard So why make matters worst....
