Insanity, P90X, Zumba, or Turbo Fire Which is the best???

Hi I am looking for a good workout with little or not weight sets needed. As I do not have the room at home and a GYM is out for me. I have already found my diet plan I will use. I'm doing Insanity now, and it requires nothing (except an optional yoga mat.) It's a great cardio workout, but has workouts focused on resistance training using the body's own weight (way beyond your standard push-ups and whatnot) that are very effective, even after I finished P90 with the weights.

Zumba is fun, but, if you're doing it from a video it gets very repetitive in my opinion. Maybe that's okay for you, but I get bored easily.

I can't speak to turbo fire.

My favorite, among the three I know, then, is Insanity. P90 workouts are almost an hour a day including the ab workout and 90+ minutes for yoga once a week. I just don't have time for that with a full time job and two young kids. Insanity averages about 40ish. Plus, I personally like Shaun T's motivation and style more than Tony's (and there's way less embedded advertising of Tony's "recovery drinks."Wink

Perhaps a combination of things? I refuse to get a gym membership ever again so I rely on body weight exercises and my own two feet mostly. At home I have a stationary bike that I'll do 1 or 2 days a week, 3lb dumbbells and resistance bands that I use for arm exercises, and do various body weight strength exercises (pushups, ab work, crunches, lunges, squats, etc.). There are lots of websites that can give you ideas and show you how to do lots of different body weight exercises. I also have a few videos for pilates, yoga and general aerobics that I use from time to time or when the weather is bad. When I'm bored with those, I will search through on-demand videos on the tv for other exercise videos.

Outside, I go walking, running, jogging around the neighborhood or at the high school track nearby. There is a trail head near my house for hiking or trail running as well. I also enjoy biking and when the weather allows, will go for 10-15 mile bike rides on the weekend.

I also take an aerobics class once a week and do zumba at a local studio once or twice a month. The aerobics class is offered through my county's recreational services and is only about $6 a class. Lots of places that offer zumba have rates for dropping in to take a single class that are usually between $6 and $10 a class. Or many offer punch cards were it only ends up being $5 a class. Same goes for many yoga studios. This winter I have been going to a county indoor pool to swim and they also have an exercise room to use as well.

What I'm getting at here is while Insanity or p90X may be excellent workouts for you, most likely you will get bored by doing the same thing all the time. You do not need to belong to a gym to lose weight. Check out if your county or city offers fitness classes. They are often very inexpensive and usually do not require a long term commitment (no monthly contract). See if there are any studios that offer individual classes for yoga or zumba. This can be an affordable way to take classes and add variety to your workout regime.

Go to YouTube, look up HASFIT it is free. I have a personal trainer a lot of the things he and I do are on HASFIT. They are good 10 minute workouts, do it 3x=great 30 minute workout.Requires very little equipment .. hand weights and a mat mostly. P90X is extremely difficult if you are a chubby girl (as I am) and Insanity need I say more!! Good luck

Slim in 6 is one of the older series from Beachbody but its worth checking out as it is a great starting place. TurboFire is fun if you like to jump and bounce around your living room. I find Chalene really upbeat and fun to workout with. Women's Health has some great DVDs with Amy Dixon if you want to stray from the Beachbody lineup. Theres also a fun HIIT DVD called look better naked that is good for some variety.

If space, not cost is the concern the Bowflex SelectTech weights are fantastic, I really enjoy how compact they are. Plus they let me incorporate LeanExtreme into my workouts and more recently the Body Beast series. Personally, I found Tony and Shaun T obnoxious so those workouts were a waste but my pervy side enables me to appreciate the Body Beast series for the eyecandy and the humor.
