so I am feeling good today just a little hungry.I am just so gosh darn confused on how many calories,fats,proteins and carbs in order to loose weight I would love to loose anywhere from 2 to 3 pounds a week I have searched the internet like crazy and think Im supposed to eat 2,000 calories a day according to these calories calculators can someone please let me know what I should be doing as far as calorie,carbs,fats and proteins Im not sure how to read this rdi and pie shape HELP!Embarassed

Hi there. Unfortunately, there's no simple answer to your question - or at least not a single one that everyone will agree with. If you're new to nutrition, its easy to get lost in the details, counting calories, protein, fats, carbs, etc.

About the best, most GENERAL rule to follow is to keep your diet as natural as possible, choose leaner meats like chicken or turkey, and stay away from the obvious downfalls like sweet breads, candy, ice cream, etc.

If you're having trouble with cravings, I would suggest giving yourself 2 days without any grain products or sweets. Instead, fill up with fruits & veggies. It will be a rough couple of days, but it will get easier.

Hi mhoeff! The way atkins is laid out in phase 1 is 20-25 NET carbs daily. Net carbs are the carbohydrates - fiber. Of those 20-25 net carbs, your veggie intake should be between 12-15 net carbs daily. Your water intake should be 64oz+ a day. Protein should be eaten at each meal, 4-6oz preferably. With fats, such as butter, oils, etc follow the serving size. No breads, pasta, or any other food that has high carbs. I've been on this for less than two weeks and have lost 14lbs (as of two days ago). If you go over the there is plenty ore information on what you can and cannot eat, I just did a vague breakdown for you. Good luck! Smile

Healthy weight loss is about 1 lb per week. At the beginning of a healthier way of eating you tend to lose more, so 14 lb in 6 months should be no problem. Good luck :)
