Calorie Cycling???

So, I was reading woman's world mag today, and I love reading about the diets they feature each week. Today's diet was, I think called the shred diet, and it involves calorie cycling. Supposedly it totally revamps your metabolism, and spurs the weightloss. It says to switch back and forth each day between a 1000cal day and 2000cal day. Just wondering if anyone's ever tried this, and if so, did you find success? Also, if you did try it and it worked, did it stick, or did the weight come right back after you quit?
Whether it works or not, I don't want to try it if it's not going to help in the long-term.

try looking up the spike diet - there are some forum posts here (top right in forums to search), but also on google. Lots have tried and lots have succeeded. I thought about doing it, especially when I hit the dreaded plateau, but never went as far as to try it (other than overindulging over Christmas).

I used to do regular calorie counting, and plateaued for months. After that, I figured out a way to "recalculate" my calories, using Fatsecret and other tools. I call it "Indulgence Diet" as it gives you a day per week where you really go nuts (but still count your calories)! If you like, check out my bio page for more info on it. It works. I know several of my buddies here use it, and are happy with the results they get.
