Help with not being hungry, what's that all about?!?!

So I started my "lifestyle change" on November 6, 2012 and I've lost 5 lbs (slow and steady wins the race, right?) Up until two days ago I have been hungry every day. The last couple of days I haven't been starving like usual. I realized last week that I haven't been getting enough protein. I learned via the internet that you multiply your weight time .37 and that will tell you the amount of protein you should be eating daily, is that why I've been less hungry? Should I be worried, in all my years of trying and failing at diets my hunger has NEVER been satiated. I'm confused. Please tell me that this isn't just a phase.

I definitely think that sufficient protein helps with hunger. In my experience ( and I used to be a snacky carb junkie), I would never feel like I have had enough. Now that I focus on protein in my diet to maintain my new weight I believe it works for me. I do not feel the desire to snack anymore to satisfy hunger. I have a goal to eat enough calories and to eat enough protein every day, but I don't focus too much on the percentages or numbers. I am always satisfied and no longer have those "gotta eat" moments. The days I don't eat as much protein I can totally tell that I am constantly looking for food more, but because I know this is happening, I reach for the protein and soon the hunger passes. I still enjoy treats and sweets I just don't have them all the time anymore!

Thanks Zenwolf, it is something that I have ALWAYS struggled with when trying to lose weight so quite frankly I was getting scared. I've never experienced it before, so I'm glad to hear that I'm semi-normal.

Whenever I'm hungry, I go for protein. It fills me up. Carbs just make me want to eat more. If I'm hungry, and just want a tiny, fulfilling snack, a slice of ham (cold cut type) will often do. Put a little mustard on it, and roll it up. 12 calories, flavorful, fulfilling and YUM!
