Weight Loss

I have a question and am hoping to hear from those that this happens to, or maybe I am the only one. So weight loss was like .5 lbs every 2 days which I guess is okay because at least it is a loss. I have been watching my food and am very pleased becasue I have been following the guidlines of the Diet but then when I stood on the scale 5 days ago it was up 3.5 lbs, in one day it went up 3.5 lbs auuuuggghhh! Now after day 5, it is still up those 3.5 lbs no loss. I have been very carful with my food intake and have not cheated and have been walking 2 miles a day. This is very frustrating and I keep asking myself why dont I just grab that back of cookies off the pantry shelf and eat them. Thanks in advance for any input or your own experiences.

if you feel you are following your plan consistently just avoid weighing every day. Every couple of weeks is more than enough and leaves most of the fluctuations out allowing you to see a real trend.

To gain - or lose - a pound of body fat, you need to consume/burn about 3500 calories. It's common knowledge around here.
So, if you were to gain 3½ lbs of body fat in ONE day, you'd have to consume about 12,000 calories more than you burn in that one day. If you had done that, I'm pretty sure you would have noticed. Right? Smile

Because eating those cookies will do what for you? Set you back even further. I don't understand why people say that they are just going "off" plan when they don't lose - it's a marathon. You need to learn to make adjustments and stick to something you can do forever. If you don't see a loss, then just keep at it b/c eventually it will work itself out. Or maybe you need to change the foods you are eating or the amount of sodium or fluid intake. No reason to overindulge b/c that will surely create more of a long term problem then losing weight slowly.

That happened to me too... But last week I really cut out as much carbs as possible and added more protein.
Lost 4lbs. Just hopping it keeps up. Hope it helps.

Or to quantify that a little more... That's just under 5 large "full house" pizzas from Dominos, or 17.9 whoppers.

There is no way to ever know if the number you get is a "true" reading, due to factors out of your control. What you are looking for is a long-term trend.

I read about a guy who weighed himself and found he was 10 pounds lighter than the day before. Of course, the next day he was where he should have been. You can't take any day's reading too seriously.

Sounds fine to me. As long as you're getting the rest of your macros in for the day you should be good.
