I have a bad back and as a result have difficulty doing exercises I have been going on the stationary bike and that has helped but would be open to any suggestions.

Have you tried any yoga or pilates to strengthen your abdominal muscles. Having a strong core can help take the stress off your back quite a bit.

Also, I would suggest the pool. Its great for the core, and easy on all of your joints. You can add resistance with foam floaties as well if you are looking for something a little more intense. I LOVE the pool.... right now its my best all around workout. Good luck, mix it up and have fun.
