How long does it take for a recipe to be approved?

I submitted a recipe about 3 weeks ago and it's still waiting for approval. Does it normally take this long? Also, when I put in the ingredients, it shows as "3 servings of...", that's confusing. Why couldn't I put it in as "3 tablespoons of..."? No one is going to use the recipe if they have to click each ingredient link just to see what a serving size is Doubt

I've submitted several recipes since I joined months ago & none are approved yet, so I don't know that answer. As for the "serving " question, I put the actual amount in parentheses or after a comma. For example: "3 1/2 servings low-sodium black beans (one 14.5 oz can)", or " 7 servings shredded reduced fat cheddar (1 3/4 cups)".

They either get approved quickly, or never. Unfortunately, "never" is a perpetual limbo.

Thank you both for the responses Smile I actually emailed them and asked about it. Their reply stated: "There is a bit of a backlog in the recipe approval process so please bear with us. If you like to access one of your recipes please let us know the exact name of it." As for the "serving size" dilemma, I guess I should have put the actual amount in parentheses, as crabby Kat did. Unfortunately, I don't see any way to edit it now. I may reply back to them and ask to access the recipe so I can fix it. Thanks again!

Thank you angiekae68 for your question about the posting of the recipe and also the answer you received from... I too submitted 2 recipes about a week ago and still no answer, so it's good to know that it is the "norm"... Hopefully our recipes will post soon, so we can share with others..

Hi BBD5 Smile I'm glad my post was beneficial to you Smile I wish it didn't take so long. I have other recipes to post, but if they all take this long, I might just put them in a Journal entry. That way, at least some people will see them lol.

You don't have to share your recipes. If you don't share them, then you can have access to them right away and you are then able to edit them if you make changes. No need to put them in your journal, just don't click share.

What NCNOLE said. If you don't share they still stay in there, but they're always edit-able and you can add them to your food diary at any time.

Adding the real-life quantity is the best way I found to keep me sane when using a recipe! Sometimes I do it as crabby Kat does, sometimes I use the entire first directions box to write it in Tbsp, oz and cups! Either way, you're covered.

If you want access to your recipes - a faster way might be to re-enter them. Just change the name - use your first name before the recipe and then you will still have it Like "Angie's Choc. Chip Muffin". I also put the serving sizes instead of directions (I usually know how to make the recipe or will use the original recipe as reference for knowing how to cook).

Thanks NCNOLE and lisakp71 Smile But, I don't remember there being a "share" button to click when submitting a "Recipe" in the Recipes section. Looking now, all I see at the bottom, below the "Directions" boxes, is "Save Recipe or Cancel". There is one when you enter a "Food" in the Food Database, though. I don't always share my custom "Food" entries, but I would like to share my "Recipes" so that others can make them, too Smile I do like the idea of writing the actual amounts of each ingredient in the first "Directions" box. I'll do that next time Smile But sadly, once you've submitted a Recipe, and it's pending approval, there's no Edit button anywhere :/

The share button is above and a little to the the left of the save button. I'm not sure if it shows up after you start adding stuff or what. It doesn't seem to be there now when I look, but in the past it has been. It's a check box, but I don't see it now, so maybe it is gone.

Check the food label, it should tell you. Rice tends to have higher calories. Usually it's 1/4 cup dry and about 150-200 calories
