Yes! Indeed it's not only hard to distribute the weight other than in the middle, but at the end of the day, we'll never be able to eat as much or indulge as someone taller... AND our RDI just to maintain an ideal weight is less than most people on diets.

The upside? If we do fall down, at least we have a shorter distance to fall.

Im not sure what "short" means, but Im 5'5 and around 160 right now. I also carry my weight in my middle. My doctor explained to me that when a person has a body type like this then they are more prone to blood sugar problems, which I do. And to be careful with the carbs. But yes I understand the frustration! I've never had a flat stomach, even when I 110. But oh well, what do you do Smile

5'2" and I carry all my weight in the middle. And my legs are comically short. I very rarely find a pair of pants I don't have to shorten... I feel your pain.

I'm 5'4"! My legs are what I consider a bit tree trunkish. Buying pants that flatter with todays styles is no easy task.
What's up with all the skinny Jean styles anyways? Obviously developed for those lacking any curves! Smile

LOL - yes! I am 5' or 5'1" on a good day. Pants are often a nightmare and shirts! They always are too long, too. I am not a "petite" by any stretch although height challenged! So, sometimes I find regular sizes that are "shorts" and they are about the right length with shoes.

I'm 5'2" and carry most of my weight in my hips, butt, thigh area and pants shopping is a nightmare! If it fits in the butt/thighs, its too big in the waist, but if it fits the waist they're too tight in the butt/thighs, especially if I shop petites! Why because I am short I am supposed to have toothpicks for legs?!?!

One good thing hip hugger pants hit me around the waist giving me a few more inches of give. I am 5'1"

Wow - never thought about THAT (hip huggers) but what a great idea. I'm 5'2 and yep, large waist so if the waist fits I look like I'm wearing diapers from the hips & legs billowing. I've often been frustrated at the plus size that even carried hip huggers thinking 'really.... who do you think is going to want to show this off?' but now I'm going to look at it in a whole new light!

I have the same problem skirch97. I carry it all in the butt/thigh/legs. My waist is small, so any pants I buy has at least 4 inches of extra around the waist, so trying to wear a belt just makes it all bunch up. I'm 5'2".

Lol! I love this post! I'm 5'4" and I am sick of skinny jeans. I have a hard time finding jeans that fit right in the waist, let alone to have them look painted onto my big thighs. I have tried petite sizes, but those are too short, regulars are too long, and my waist, hips, and thighs must not be in proportion to any style of jeans out there because if they fit in one place then they are tight or loose in anohter. And, shirts on a manequin can look amazing, then I try one on and it looks like it should be a dress. Oh the challenges of being short. Smile

I agree with all of this and have a secret weapon - tailoring, ladies! Buy the jeans that fit the large parts and have the waist taken in - made "SMALLER" - isn't that a great concept? And I have had some nice blouses shortened, too. Then, I wasn't tucking in yards of cloth!

I'm not a gal but I am vertically challenged. I'm only 5'5" and single and love short women. Just remember one thing. Short people live much longer. Think about it. How many tall seniors do you see still walking around out there... not many. It's mostly little old men and women. Embrace your vertical longevity. I looked much shorter 114 lbs ago. As I got thinner I started to look taller. Ya it's weird I know.

It must be a gal thing then because when I have been thin people say 'I never realized how short you are! So for me I must be more 'foreboding ' when I'm fat.

I haven't heard very many "how tall are you?" in awhile. I think I look taller or just don't look as short. And I'm just over 5'0.
