I use this website(Eat this! not that!) and Fatsecret food logging to lose weight. Over the course of a year, I have lost 23 pounds. start logging in everything you eat, make a calorie deficit regularly and watch the pounds SLOWLY creep off.

the key to using Eat this! Not that! is to read and reread every single article published by the website, and follow the rules strictly. You should almost memorize the articles;they help you make better food choices.

Dolly Pat, I think the problem is your diet. There is too much "diet" food and not enough protein. Your blood sugar levels are a roller coaster ride, and when the levels dip too low it signals your brain to tell you to eat sugar (because that is the only type of food that feeds your brain). Eating some protein with your carbs will keep your blood sugar from going too high then dipping too low. I don't know your situation, but if you don't eat meat, soy is a good protein alternative. Your diet seems really repetitive. You need some variety so that you don't get bored. Take a look at my diet calendar. It might give you a better idea what I'm saying. I am 53 and have been a lifetime dieter, but this way of eating enough protein is working for me when nothing else did. I have lost a few pounds and lots of inches, and more importantly I feel great. I don't crave sweets like I always did, but when I do want something sweet I eat it without guilt. I can eat this way for life. Feel free to contact me if you have questions and good luck to you.

Focusing on keeping tabs on what you eat is another great idea. then move, and water, water oh and water.

I'm a sugar addict also. I am off the sugar now. It takes about 2 days of torture in order to get sugar out of your system. The carbs I eat are the healthy carbs--fruits, veggies, whole grains. I try to eat protein with every meal. Protein is important to keep the hunger away. Also, drink plenty of water. I struggle with this, but am doing somewhat better lately since I started logging my water also. Your body will think you are hungry when you are actually thirsty. Sounds crazy, but it's true. Stay away from candy, cookies, cakes, white flour products. I have found that simply eating a bagel once I was off sugar still gave me horrible cravings for it. I still miss the habit of eating sugar because I liked it, but it doesn't like me--it makes me fat. So I now consider it my enemy.

This is what works best for me. Eating what ever I like and burning more calories than I ate...

Someone once said, "Planning is more effective than willpower." I find it easier to plan my meals ahead of time. And if I want to have a 'treat', I add it to my FatSecret log in the beginning of the day, so it's already accounted for.

My weakness is ice cream. I use the smallest dish, about 3/4 cup, so that my brain thinks it's eating a lot.

Finally, write everything down. Even if you go over your allotted calories, at least you can look back and see where you can cut down.

I found the Dukan diet was my cure. No one had a bigger sweet tooth than me and in 3 days my cravings were gone. I could sit and watch someone eat chocolate cake right next to me and I wasn't even tempted. The reason is...you can have desert again once you reach the 3rd phase....which I started on Saturday. Today is my first celebration meal and it is "prescribed" that I am allowed a starter, dinner and desert (even a glass of wine)...not binge...just enjoy the foods I've missed. I lost 22lbs in 7 weeks on Dukan so it doesn't last forever. It is ALOT of protein and you need to drink your water. Protein keeps the cravings at bay.

best part....I didn't have to calorie count...I ate whenever I was hungry of the approved foods. Planning is needed to make sure you always have your food in the fridge.
