Your RDI is calculated to get you to a place where you are optimally losing weight, and you should be in that zone most of the time. If you don't make it every day, don't worry about it, but make sure to not go over.
You can safely shave off a few hundred extra calories, but where Fatsecret has set you is generally a good idea to stick with. Also, having the calories that you are allowed make losing weight a whole lot easier.

I've always wondered about this. My rdi is supposed to be 2300 based on my activity level. To me that is way too much. I tried to eat at 1900 which is what my bmr is right now and I could barely make it. It was a struggle because I only had junk to help me reach that amount. To eat that much veggies and stuff... I couldn't choke down that much.

If you feel that you're full and satisfied, then I would just stop eating at that point. I myself had a long period where I couldn't get to my RDI. We get more focused on what we eat, and because of this we don't consume as many calories. Just be careful to not go too low either. The general thought here on FS is to not go below 1200 calories per day.
Try to aim between 1200 and your RDI. You'll do fine. If you should end up stalling, then there are ways around that too.

I use the RDI as a guide. Most days I eat slightly below it, like, 10% less because that gives me a buffer for the days when I eat slightly above it. I figure that if I'm within 5-10% of the RDI at the end of the month, I probably did OK.

The RDI is your recommended daily intake to MAINTAIN your weight...(without gaining weight)..if you want to lose weight you have to eat UNDER your RDI. If you eat your RDI every day u will not lose weight unless you are doing exercise. If you want to lose 1 pound a week you have to eat about 500 calories less each day of your RDI. (3500 calories = 1 pound).
