Hi there everyone,
I recently went to my local Vons and had a sweet tooth like crazy from my bodies lack of sugar intake. I was in the water isle when I came across Safeway brands Refreshe Sparkling Flavored Water. Now I have to say this stuff is AWESOME and 0 all the way across the boards. I am a terrible water drinker so I figured this would help me get the water I need with a little bit of the flavor I've been missing. Well I have plateaued completley, it's been two days and I haven't lost an ounce. I look on the back of the bottle to the ingredients and Aspartame was one of the first listed. When I look up on google about Aspartame and atkins it realy is still an ongoing battle between "yes it's fine" and "no it's not". Hoping someone can give me their opinion on this? I do not drink diet sodas, don't care for them, this is the only thing I am drinking besides water and tea. I will be so sad if I have to lose my new found water love.

I have never done Atkins so I can't help you with the answer to that. However, I can tell you that LaCroix sparkling water (there is a pure version and many flavors) do not include aspartame. I'm looking at my can right now and the only ingredients listed are carbonated water and natural flavor. It is probably not as sweet as the one you are used to, but the flavor is strong and it is very refreshing. Just wanted to give you another option!!

One way to find out if this is the cause of your "plateau" is to stop drinking them for a week and see what happens. Some people can handle artificial sweeteners....some can't. And, sometimes it seems to depend on which artificial sweetener it is.
Lots of reasons to not have aspartame, but that's a whole separate issue for you to consider.

Stop drinking that stuff with aspartame!!! Read some literature on it and you will never go near the stuff. I hate drinking water and have also had a hard time finding a sweetener that doesn't have the "after taste". I put a product called "PURE LEMON" in my water so it at least has a flavor to it. It has less than a gram of carbs per packet so i have to count it in my total carb intake. It's all natural instead being an artificial flavor. Good luck

I drink La Croix sparkling water. Comes in a lot of flavors - lemon, lime, raspberry, grapefruit, coconut - with zero calories, sodium, and no artificial sweeteners. Not sure if it's available where you live - it is available at groceries here as well as at Target.

ECO Atkins for a skinny vegetarian with a belly
This would be a good question for the nutritionist over on the atkins.com boards. Colette Heimowitz is her name. Post your question with her name in the title and she will respond.

Even though fat doesn't count in Atkins, it can cause you to gain or not lose weight if you consume too much. Be careful of over eating this nutrient. ie: cream, cream cheese.
