Has anyone ever tried a full body cleanse? If so, what kind and what were the results? Pros & cons? Thanks!

I am starting a cleanse on Monday. I've been researching for weeks and decided that a hybrid of a juice cleanse with one vegan, unprocessed meal a day is the right one for me. Homemade green juice for breakfast and dinner and a meal for lunch that consists of nuts, seeds, veggies, and quinoa. I'm actually really excited to try it! I am a lover of red meat, so much cheese and bad carbs so hopefully this with jumpstart some good habits for me! I will do this for 5-7 days and then slowly start incorporating lean proteins and more whole grains back in.

If you'd like, I will let you know how it goes!

I would def. like to know how it goes! I've heard of different kinds, I just haven't read much on anyone's personal experience so I don't know which one to go with. What is homemade green juice?

I have a juicer so I will seriously just be throwing in all sorts of vegetable. Apparently adding apples and lemons makes it less intimidating. For my first one I will be juicing romaine, kale, spinach, cucumber, apple and lemon. Depending on how that tastes I will play around with it from there. All of the recipes that I chose to make for my solid lunches incorporate the pulp that is leftover from the juicer so there wont even be a lot of waste!

I was actually planning on a 40-day water fast but a major job opportunity came up and I cut the fast short so I wouldn't look so gaunt at the interview.

Rather than trying to "cleanse" your body, why not just eat foods that don't fill your body with "toxins" ?

Our bodies are good at cleansing themselves naturally-- they have organs designed for that very purpose. If you don't overwhelm your body with garbage then it will cleanse itself without your having to resort to extremely restrictive diets.

I did 3 days of the Master Cleanse. I felt really great afterward! I was diagnosed with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth and nothing I did helped my GI problems go away (think IBS on steroids)... but I felt great for a MONTH after just 3 days on the Master Cleanse. It is not easy, though, and something about just drinking this lemonade concoction felt unnatural (we ARE meant to eat, right??). I really think that unless you are just trying to take a break from eating or if you are having stomach issues, it would be better to just eat completely whole, clean foods with no additives or preservative and drink water, that should be cleanse enough.

that was my thought! 25 days on only water goes against everything i've been taught, read about. I thought the general survival rule of 3's I'd heard was people can live: 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food.

sbutler - 25 days only water?? That's insane! The first thing that comes to my mind is eating disorder.

Sorry, I should have prefaced that this wasn't for weight loss reasons, it was for spiritual and health reasons. If you look at my weight chart I've been at my goal weight for about five months.

I've heard of the master cleanse. Just checking out some options. I am aware that these do not produce permanent weightloss, thank you. Not really interested in weightloss, just wanting to be healthy and toned. Giving my digestive system a fresh start seems healthy to me Smile

fasts are supposed to be very cleansing, never done one, but when you look at the research it is not as unhealthy as we are made to believe. 25 days is incredible, I could never do it!

To kick off my week of juicing I watched the movie "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" last night. It was so inspiring and absolutely amazing. These two men drank only fruit and veggie juice for 60 days. They had serious illnesses and were trying to heal their bodies so that they no longer had to rely on medication - it worked!! While I am not having only juice (one clean meal for lunch) it was great to get pointers and see the benefits right in front of you! Find it on Netflix!

ginnyray- I realize a cleanse would not tone me which is why I have a gym membership and do weighttraining. I guess I wasn't clear. In general, I am looking to be healthy and toned and I def. do NOT expect a cleanse to magically make me healthy nor toned.

Sweet! I will continue to work out when I do a cleanse. I read about the Beachbody 2 day cleanse. I like that it is 2 days, but I think it is like $20. Probably tastes better than the Master Cleanse lol. Still haven't made a decision...
