Hover over "MY FATSECRET" at the top left of the page, then go into "My Diet Calendar". Click on any individual day by clicking the calorie total for the day.

Tess have you entered any foods under breakfsts, lunch or dinner yet?
I don't see any food entries. Once you have food entries you will have a pie scale.

Bear in mind that this site calculates its pie chart incorrectly. The % of fat will be correct, but both carbohydrate and protein
can
be wildly off the mark if there's fiber in the diet.

That is how it should be NImm. All pie charts do that as far as I know
There are calories in fiber, they should be counted

No, this site calculates it incorrectly. You're right that fiber has some energy value, but I didn't say that it should be ignored. Just that FatSecret doesn't handle it properly - and it doesn't. I've had days where most of the calories in my breakfast were from protein, yet a pie chart showing about 5% P for the same meal. Clearly wrong.
What the site
should
do is calculate fat and protein percentages first, as they are basically fixed - 9 kcal/g and 4, respectively. Then the remainder can be assigned to CHO, which will necessarily take fiber calories into account. It doesn't do that, however. It
seems
to calculate fat first, then all carbs, including fiber at 4kcal/g (which is wrong), and then allot the rest to protein.
Example: Today I've got 435 calories logged so far, with about 38.7g of protein. That's about 36% of my calories from protein - yet my pie chart says 30%. A relatively small error, but they can and sometimes will be much larger.

I think it counts them the same as fit day. And maybe also some of the other counters.
I have not paid much attention to the pie chart I will check more to see.
Thanks for the heads up Nimm

I entered my shake
The pie chart is telling me
316 total calories
65% from fat
19 carb
16 protein
That is quite correct.

Yep, it's not always wrong. I can't tell exactly how it calculates the numbers, other than it always gets the % of fat correct. But it tends to undercalculate protein and overcalculate CHO - as my current chart confirms. Sometimes it's a big mistake, sometimes it's small. Sometimes there isn't one.
Of course, I don't think macro %s should be used to compose a diet in the first place, compared to absolute amounts. But that's another issue...

It is correct. (I think you are wrong - unless I am missing something - and well that happens LOL )

OK then, here's another example. I just started a new log for tomorrow, and put in 2 Quest bars for breakfast.
320 total calories, with 40 grams of protein. 40 grams of protein = 160 calories, so 50% of the calories from protein, yet FS is showing 9%. Fat is correct. Carbs are supposedly 63%, which would mean about 200 calories from carbs. Which would suggest the site treated the 50g of total CHO as being 4kcal/g. But because most of those 50g are fiber with a much lower energy value, this is clearly wrong:
The fact that the chart is sometimes correct even with fiber in the mix suggests that the order in which the foods are entered can make a difference, which is even screwier.

...and it gets screwier. If I add one serving of Fiber One 80 cereal, my protein now drops to 0% on the chart....even though it's 164 out of 400 calories, or
41%
of total energy. Pretty massive error - although fat remains correct:

Wow
And yet it is correct fairly if you look at a single quest bar in the food section
I had not really seen this before
But you are right that is really strange. And completely wrong!!!!!
Does it happen with only customer entries or have you noticed this when you use the generic entries as well
I wonder if is is because there is an error in how those bars lists calories and if the program does not really know how many soluble and insoluable fibers there are it gets confused.
The error is that if you actually counted 4 calories for every carb the total carb number would be wrong

I don't spend all that much time worrying about, so it's hard to say
But I don't see much difference from reference-value foods vs user entries. I have noticed, though, that the same foods can return different pie charts if they're entered in a different order, which is strange. I think the problem gets larger when you have foods with the types of fiber that have the least energy value.
The only consistent rules I've seen, however, are that fat % is always right, and protein is usually undercounted to some degree. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot, sometimes not at all. Beyond that, you'll have to ask FS!

I don't think it's specific to Quest bars...

Yeah all the producers who add the "fake" inulin fiber to their product seems to be doing it for sure
Fiber one has chichory root as its first ingredient.

Even though fat doesn't count in Atkins, it can cause you to gain or not lose weight if you consume too much. Be careful of over eating this nutrient. ie: cream, cream cheese.
