I have been on Phase 1 of the Atkins diet for 3 1/2 weeks following everything to a T. I have 60 lbs. to loose and have only lost 5 - and thats on a good day! I am also walking 30 - 45 minutes a day! I have lost 2 to 2 1/2 inches in 2 weeks BUT when is the weight going to come off?? I don't know how much longer I can stay in Phase 1.

Hi Smile You're getting your 20 net carbs daily and making sure 12-15 of those are veggies? Drinking approx 100oz water daily? Some people's bodies are more touchy about some things than others - too many atkins products (ie bars) or too much splenda can keep you from losing too.

I had someone tell me that the shakes and bars might be the problem so I've stopped those. I have 2 sweet n lows a day (in my coffee) and that's it. But yes the 20 net carbs, and 12 - 15 are veggies, but I don't always get 100 oz of water but always at least 64 oz.

I was totally frustrated with the adkins diet for the same reasons, hard diet to follow. I now count calories and am having much better luck.

Sometimes we can think we're following Atkins Induction phase to a T, but in reality it's not always the case -- and that can cause frustration, confusion, and lowered weight loss than what we've come to expect.

Like someone mentioned above, berries are not allowed until Phase 2 (Ongoing Weight Loss), and Pinot Grigio (or any other alcohol, for that matter) is not allowed until you're off Induction. Alcohol will kick you out of Ketosis for sometimes up to a week, depending on the individual.

Also, please try to eat more calories. You're (on average) getting WAY below what your body needs just to survive! Your Base Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the MINIMUM amount of calories you should be consuming each day in order to NOT throw your body into starvation mode -- which will slow your metabolism down as much as 40%!

Go to this LINK and it will calculate your BMR for you. Then shoot for at least that many calories per day.

Your percentages of fat/protein/carbs looks good! I think if you just make a few tweaks to your menu and add some calories, you'll be surprised at how the weight will start coming off. You CAN do it! Very Happy

Can't say enough about Atkins! Easy to follow, fast results. Haven't done it in a long time, but don't you go ZERO carbs for like 5 days, (drink lots of water!!) then GRADUALLY start adding vegs & healthy carbs back? Everyone's carb tolerance is different. Buy some "Ketostix" (pee-sticks) @ Walgreens. After you're down to zero, the stick turns deep purple, you're in ketosis (i.e. burning your own fat and have energy like crazy). Each day add a little healthy carbs, and constantly check you readings. Don't have to keep track of anything, shop for "zeros" in the grocery store, and just stay purple!! (or close to it) Good luck!
