Sad I SWEAR I'M LOSING IT AND I DON'T MEAN THE WEIGHT. THE STRESS ALONE YOU WOULD THINK WOULD HELP THE WEIGHT COME OFF BUT IN MY CASE IT ISN'T HELPING AT ALL. I HAVE TAKEN CUSTODY OF MY 2 YEAR OLD GRANDSON,THE ENGINE IN MY CAR LOCKED UP AND NOW I NEED ANOTHER CAR,MY DAUGHTER IS 22 AND PREGNANT WITH HER 5TH CHILD AND MY OTHER DAUGHTER IS IN JAIL. IS ANYONE ELSE FEEL LIKE SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINES THEY DIDN'T DO SOMETHING RIGHT? IM A GOOD PERSON,A GOOD MOTHER AND I LOVE MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS BUT I CANT TAKE ANYMORE STRESS. I WANT THIS WEIGHT GONE SO BADLY AND FIND MYSELF LOSING THIS BATTLE. THANKS FOR LISTENING ALL.Neutral

I think you must be a great mother to still be able to stand by your children and facing all theses storms. my best suggestion would be prayer...the weight will come off with faith. I pray things get better for u..

Stress does not help you lose weight, it does exactly the opposite. While there are some people who just stop eating while under a lot of stress, the majority of us start self medicating ourselves with food and/or alcohol, stop exercising and stop paying attention to how we look and what we eat. In addition to that adrenalin and cortisol that are stress hormones make you store more fat and prevent you from burning fat as fuel. While it is impossible to control a lot of situations, that cause the stress, you have to at least be aware of what it does to your body. You should not blame yourself for anything. You are trying to help your family, and take care of yourself and there is only so much you can do or control. Try to relax and find at least some time during the day that is yours only, even if it is just 5 minutes. Listen to the music, or stare at a beautiful picture, or find some scent that can let you forget about your problems for just a couple of minutes at a time. Any physical activity, walking, lowers the level of stress hormones almost immediately. This is our biological response, if you are moving you are moving away from danger. I would try to concentrate on relaxation more than on weight loss right now. You need to calm down and relax, even a little bit, the weight will start coming down once you are in better mood. We cannot control life, but we can learn to take a deep breath and move on. At least this is what I am trying to learn how to do. I wish you all the best and hope your problems start getting resolved. Take care of yourself.

I agree that this may not be the greatest time to focus on weight loss - I would however, focus on getting healthy food into your body. With good nutrition your body is better equipped to deal with life/stress.
Best wishes to you.

you will be in my prayers I hope things get better. yeah when I stress I go for the worst things for me I have just had to change slightly what those things are like trading nachos for low fat wheat thins and fat free cheese or 8 chocolate bars for apple slices and nutella it still covers what i am craving but with 1/3 the calories and way less fat. I can only imagine how hard your situation is, though if it's any consolation your children's performance is not necessarily a reflection on your parenting prowess. You could be the perfect mom and still have girls in the same predicament they are in because they ultimately have to make their own choices- which might be poor ones in spite of better instruction. Things may not improve as quickly as you would want, but you are not alone and there are definitely people who care and are willing to listen here for you.
