HELP! I need telling off before I ruin today :(

Hi All

It;s my TOTM (too much info I know) but I have been starving all day and just can't stop nibbling Sad

So far I have had 2 mini babybells (little round cheese things), a pepperami (skinny salami stick), can of sugar free redbull and bag of Mr Porkys (pork rinds)!!! 2 celery sticks with primula (cheese spread)......AND a chicken salad for my lunch with garlic mayo and cheese Sad

I feel I have no self controle over snacking today Sad

I have stopped myself now.......and drinking lots of water to try limit the damage, but will this lot really harm my progress?

what are the limits to snacking?

We all have those days. As long as you don't do it every day you should be fine. If you can go for a vigorous walk rather than reaching for that salty snack or reach for that glass of water. Here's hoping for a rest of the day. Chin up and keep up the good work.

my daily routine goes something like this...

Monday- Friday up early for 30 min of cardio. have a well balanced meal. every 2 to 3hrs i am eating. but it is fruits and vegetables. with a protein shake in between. making sure i am getting protein, carbs, and fats in every meal (snack). workout for 1 hr at lunch eating lunch 45min after workout.

2 days a week i have my cheat days. i eat whatever i want for one meal a day. trying to break even those days with calories in and calories out

for the last 6 weeks i am down 15 lbs losing an average of 2 lbs a week.

Sounds like there was no solid amount for breakfast. Make sure you eat a filling breakfast from now on and start on a good foot.

Also snacking is not necessarily a bad thing. In fact it's better to break up your calorie requirements to smaller amounts and eat at regular intervals to keep up energy levels (also try low GI foods for slow-burning energy foods).

Your appetite does increase the week before TOTM, and you've been fairly good with most of those choices - cheese: full of calcium; celery - lots of cellulose to make your body work at digestion and good vits and minerals. If you know what you're going to be like you can be prepared.

If you are on Atkins that actually sounds OK to me! You don't want to be hungry--if you get hungry eat (from the acceptable foods list)! Just make sure you are feeling hunger and not habit!

Maybe find something to keep you busy and away from the temptations. Go for a walk or head to the mall. Leave the house or take a break from work (not sure where you are now, but just change your routine for even just 15 minutes, might give you a different perspective).

Also, think of your motivation -- why are you trying to lose weight?? Keep at it. Good luck and remember tomorrow is a fresh day.

I found out that if I snack, its because I am not eating any kind of filling meal except for perhaps dinner. I do like random snacks, however, ESPECIALLY during that time... But it shouldn't hurt that much if you are not doing it everyday...

When I find myself eating too much during TOM, it's not that I'm actually hungry, I just want to put something in my mouth. I found it helps to brush me teeth (so everything tastes gross) or chewing gum to give my mouth something to do that's not eating. If you actually are hungry, just log it and make sure you don't go overboard or drink lots of fluids.

start chopping veggies and put them in front of you...Also I find taking a walk curbs my appetite...maybe it just occupies my mind so I forget I was focused on food. Maybe you need to just eat a full meal...Just pick your favorite a go for it. One meal won't kill you and it may just get you over the grabbing of small things that aren't satisfying.

Hi! Don't you just hate that TOM? I am right now (TMI right?)and it is bumming me out when I look at the scale. =( Hang in there and try not to beat yourself up too badly. We all have a hard time when the hormones are raging. I find that eating some fat and protein at every meal helps make me feel fuller, longer. Fiber of course helps too. You actually aren't doing that bad. At least you aren't reaching for NON Atkins friendly stuff that are filled with sugar and carbs!

If you're hungry then eat! That is your body talking to you.

I will make one suggestion... as hard as this may be I'd stop drinking the Redbull. The reason we eat low carb isn't because carbs are necessarily bad but because we are trying to control our insulin levels instead of our insulin controlling us. Artificial sweeteners, esp aspartame, cause an insulin response in addition to a lot of other undesirable effects. A spike in insulin is usually followed by a spike in hunger cravings. It is our sweet-tooth that is usually the culprit behind our undoings.

Are you exercising a lot, by any chance? I noticed I had been reasonably more hungry for a few days and came to the conclusion that I had upped my exercise and wasn't eating enough at all. What you ate doesn't sound all too bad to me, it actually sounds fairly healthy. Like others have said, if you're hungry, don't deprive yourself or get down on yourself! Just strive to make healthy snack choices Smile
