Would love some suggestions for eating out lunch. I didn't have time to prepare and had a Subway salad yesterday. I don't mind another salad but they don't have any Atkins friendly salad dressings except olive oil and vinegar.

What's wrong with their Ranch? Pretty sure they have an Italian dressing too. Both those are approved as long as they don't go above 2 nc. Subway is pretty much my go-to place to eat if I'm out and about. Do you have some other places in mind?

I've had Wendy's hamburger (bunless) and a side salad with blue cheese or ranch dressing. Actually, it doesn't even take a whole packet of dressing since they give you a lot. I imagine most any burger place would have this kind of choice. I also noticed another person on the Atkins site used grilled KFC chicken and a salad or green bean side. I can't think of anything at Taco Bell... unless you had their taco salad without the shell or beans. Salsa doesn't have many if any carbs, does it? and sour cream and/or guacamole would be allowed. I've had the Subway philly steak and cheese as a salad (they'll do any of their subs in salad form, apparently) and it was good - seems like it came in at about 7 carbs with dressing. Are you in OWL yet?

I'm really confused on the Ranch dressing rules. According to Atkins newest book, you are not allowed milk, that includes skim, at least in the induction phase. The homemade Hidden Valley Ranch calls for 1 cup of milk. I'm assuming that restaurant ranch also has milk.
Does anyone know the exact rule from Atkins on the milk issue on induction?

There may be milk in some recipes and packaged foods - the important thing with dressings, etc is the carb count. I've seen Ranch dressing with 1 gram of carbs per 2 TBSP serving, and I've seen Ranch with up to 8 grams of carbs! Read labels and measure your servings.

jn-davis,
I just started the Induction phase a few days ago. This is my 4th day. I guess my only concern on the Ranch is what I just posted about the milk. Because of the milk sugars, milk is not allowed on Induction.
Thanks for the other suggestions, tho. The Philly steak salad sounds really good. Simple is the key, right?

rachel, thanks for the info. I am hoping the Hidden Valley Ranch homemade comes to a low net carb. I can always use my own dressing when eating out.
