I became bulimic at fourteen and that lasted for about three and a half years. Ever since I've 'recovered' I still feel like I'm restricting and not eating properly. But I also feel like, I
can't
eat properly because my body, (from struggling with ana/mia for so long) doesn't digest calories right and when I work out it doesn't make much of a difference either. How can I eat like a semi-normal person and not gain 10lbs a day?

Congratulations on finding this website. You definitely have some great tools here for assisting you in learning to eat right. And congratulations on "recovering". Having eating disorders is no walk in the park.
I have no experience as such with bulimics, but I don't really think there is such a think as not digesting calories right. I can not think of how it could be possible to gain MORE fat from the same calories. I I can't see how this could happen.
I think that the issue could be to track the calories right, and to maintain an active life style to match it.
I think for you, the right thing to be doing would be to count all your food intake, and count all your exercise, and on a daily basis try to be at 500-1000 calories more burnt than consumed.
This should get you going.
Also, since you have a past with eating disorders, I would make sure that you are as recovered as it is possible, and that you are in a mentally good place to do this. Being happy while losing weight significantly ups the success rate.
Again, I am no expert on this - this is only my thoughts on the issue. I hope you find a little help in it, and that you will have a happy, onwards journey. Feel free to add me as a buddy, should you like to.

I just think that since my body is so used to consuming such a little caloric intake daily, that if I ate more than 800 calories I would gain A LOT of weight. I know this to be true. I don't really want to gain any weight, but I want to start eating more because it's getting monotonous. I usually consume anywhere from 10 to 900 calories a day, but I almost NEVER have an appetite, and have to force myself to eat. And sometimes once I start eating I never stop. It's also difficult because I am a vegan and have a lot of fat rich foods in the house that I am 'allowed' to consume.

Can you go to a specialist or a dietitian? That would probably be helpful. If not, then I would log your food and be honest with that. See what you are eating daily - then try increasing by 100 calories each week. Weigh in weekly to see where you stand. You should not gain by adding 700 calories a week (as it takes 3500 for a pound). If you gain and you don't want to, then go back down and try that for another week with the goal of gradually adding 100 calories back in your diet.

I'm so sorry, girl. I'm struggling with an eating disorder at the moment, and my advice would be to find a nutritionist to set you up on a weight maintenance plan, they're experts and they know what they're doing, I know how hard of a factor trust is with this, but I haven't seen my weight in over 6 weeks and not obsessing over a number might be the most liberating experience I've ever dealt with. It does get better, I promise. And you're beautiful inside and out, you control the food, it doesn't control you. You CAN get through this <3

Also, being set up on a plan where Caloric intake isn't driving you helps a lot, such as one where you have an x amount of starches, fats, proteins, fruits, and veggies per snack and meal. It's so hard to not focus on all of these numbers, but you are not your eating disorder, and like I said before, you ARE beautiful. As for body image, it may be the toughest challenge to surmount, but I would take to a therapist about that one. What I've done is covered up my full length mirrors and I've written inspirational little slogans and one-liners on them just to brighten the day. I hope this helps, gorgeous!

Large, check out this article -

It talks about how a depressed metabolism can cause you to gain weight on a low level of calories and tells you how to fix it. Be forewarned, it won't happened overnight and it's necessary to gain some weight in the process but it sounds like it might be what you need to do. On the bright side, there IS a solution- your metabolism is never beyond repair!
