This is my first winter at my new goal weight. After decades of running around insulated by about 50 lbs. of fat, I never realized how cold winter is.

However, I'd rather have to dress in more layers than have those extra layers of fat.

Anyone else notice the loss of "insulation" this winter?

Well, I've always felt cold in winter, but I'm cold natured despite my weight. I'm not sure if I am colder now than last year. However, now my cute coats fit me again!! I feel more dressed up when I can where my peacoat or other dressy coats.

Embrace the new you and get a nice coat to dress up your outfits! You will feel fabulous, I promise Smile

I guess the up-side is that I won't be so close to heat-stroke in the summer.

Runesinger-I haven't hit goal yet but I am at the lowest weight in about 20 years and yes I also notice that it seems colder, that is when I'm not having a hot flash. lol Glad it isn't just my imagination.

NCNOLE I would love to buy a cute coat but my DH gave me one of his old ugly poofy coats that doesn't fit him anymore. . .maybe I will buy myself a cute one for Christmas afterall. I like that idea.

BHA- that is too funny! My sister is similer but lives where it is warm then complains that it is cold.

With any luck, and lots of effort, I will have your problem this time next year...for now I am still way too insulated. I would much rather have to wear a sweatshirt than feel bad about how I look and how I feel.

I've noticed it also. I'm down 40 pounds and holy crap is it cold. I used to be immune to cold and I'm just not any more. I now dress in layers - and before I was cool all year round with just a t-shirt.

Runesigner, to tell you frankly, even with almost 60 pounds less, wich means 30 pounds less than you,I don't really feel it colder. I move so much now that i don't have time to get cold. I even started liking to shovel the snow!!!! By the way I'm in Quebec so it gets pretty cold here too!!! And we do tend to get quite a bit of snow! I started skating again, I haven't had so much fun outside in a looooong time!!!

I too noticed that after weight loss I do feel the cold much more. However I enjoy having to dress in layers, because when the layers come off you get that "holy crap" I feel light and skinny feeling all over again.
Oh yeah and snow is a good thing... walking in it works your legs, your butt, have to balance yourself, and cold supposedly means you have to burn more calories to warm yourself up... Smile

Yes, and dieting in the hot summer is a good way to keep cool also. The less I eat, the colder I get.

Good thing it's the season for those over-the-top Christmas sweaters. Now they are actually functional for me. I have my favorite reindeer sweater on for Christmas.
