ALL, Im new to this site and have been competitive in the fitness industry for 4 years. In that time I have learned the HEALTHY way to lose weight, add muscle, and be happy.
After reading many of todays journal entries I have noticed that pretty much all of you need to wake up!
Calculate your RDI by taking your BMR multiplied by activity level (Harris Benedict Equation) (google BMR and the site does it for you) and subtract maximum 500 from the total calculation. i.e. mine is: 1451.65 (BMR)x 1.55(activity level)= 2250.06 (daily caloric REQUIREMENT to maintain) - 500kcal = 1750kcal to lose weight and be healthy while sustaining the energy I need to get through my day. Recalculate you RDI as you lose weight.
Obviously a banana and piece of toast arent going to cut it for the day! If you starve your body, your metabolism will slow down and/or you will also go on a binge cycle.
As a normal height/frame NEVER EVER go under 1200kcal a day.
I have also noticed that you need to clean up your eating habits. Cut refined and processed everything. I cheat a little bit but I try to keep to the 80/20 rule.

I am a personal trainer, runner, and NPC figure/bikini competitor. If you are serious about your weight, follow me on here, contact me, I have tons of advice and loads of tips and tricks.

Jocelyn, seeing that you've been a member for about a month, I really doubt that you've gotten under the skin of many members here. You haven't seen the efforts, the hardship, the energy, the questions, the dedication, the so-close-to-give-up-but-still-keep-goings, the positive attitudes, the MANY success of this place.
Coming out saying that we pretty much all are doing it wrong, is probably not the right way to get people's attention.
Instead, you should befriend people, inspire, help, and use your knowledge to help people to the place where they really want to be.
Simply throwing a "you're all doing it wrong" statement followed by a lot of math (simple or not - I understand what you are saying and I am not saying you are significantly wrong) is simply not gonna win anyone over. It's a wasted effort, if you ask me.
As a personal trainer, you should already know that all people are different, we have different reasons to lose weight and we have different reasons that we are overweight. It doesn't always just come down to numbers. I hope you understand this when you're with your clients.

Joycelyn - I don't mean to pick on you...but you did kind of set yourself up here to get some negative responses! Keld makes some great points! I hope you stick around - and get to know us! I am sure we can all learn something from each other. Probably not what you expected...but there's lots of great folks on this site... beginners, moderates, and lots of 'experienced' ones too. Every part of each persons experiences ... are valuable. Including yours. So, I do hope you'll accept my buddy request... and welcome to Fat Secret!!!
Live, Love, Laugh ...make each day memorable and enjoy the journey.
