Since there has been alot of posts re: negative journal entries, I was wondering if perhaps there should be a warning subject line, e.g "WARNING THIS JOURNAL MAY CONTAIN NEGATIVE EMOTIONS, or WARNING THIS JOURNAL ENTRY IS A VENTING OF FRUSTRATION WHERE FOUL LANGUAGE MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL READERS."
I just do not understand... does anyone else agree with this?

We are unfortantly in a world that everyone feels that they have to be "politically" correct. Everything we say can be viewed as insensitive, thats why everyone is turning out to be such sissys (sorry for being harsh). I will not senor myself, if people don't want to read my personal journals, then don't. I will not be offended. Maybe we can put a rating in the first line of the journal, and folks can be at their own risk, lol.

YES!!!! i agree, i think that its really sad and disrespectful in a way, because, i look at this site and i read the forums, the journal entries, and whatever else, and i learn...i laugh with the person that wrote it , if they are laughing, i cry, if they are sad, i totally feel their emotion, whatever it may be. i write negative, positive, whatever is on my mind, and i love the feedback, love love love and appreciate everyone that responds. my thoughts on those few that DONT like the negative...go somewhere else, find a site thats all positive, and good luck with that, and good luck with your in life, since you cant handle negative

Yes lee shelly.. i was joking, but I was wandering what kind of response I would get from the "warning subject line"...
I am glad that there are like minded ppl on this site that write whatever is on their mind, and actually appreciate when others write comments. I too am one of those holy crap ppl do actually care, and it only takes a couple of key strokes to say thank you and I am grateful for your input... cheers

I also believe we should be able to put in our journals anything we want. I have good days, and I have bad days, I put them in as they come. Positive or negative. We can't always be happy, that is a fantasy! Smile

I have to say that I don't censor myself either. However, I do (on occasion) try to not step EVERYONE on their toes every time I post. On the other side, the controversial topics are usually the ones that give the best debates, becomes most memorable and the ones we learn the most from.
Censorship is generally bad. Let's try to just not be jerks all the time. Smile

People complaining about journals!!!!!!! Get a life.... That's what I say. It's your journal - put what you like, as long as you are not vindictively, "slagging" off someone else on the site. If people don't like what they read, there is a little button that takes them off the page.... Use it.

1. these our PERSONAL journals... you know thoughts feelings etc. bound to be negative s##t in there, no one is 100% positive all the time.

2. If you are really worried about upsetting someone with YOUR negative entry. Make your account private (For buddies only), that way only the people you are friends with will see it.

3. If you are writting a negative journal entry and feel the need to put up a warning than do so. I have done it in the past so my buddies do not have to read it if they don't want to.

I thought we were all adults, as such should we not beable to click the little x in the corner if we do not want to read something negative dont. IF it is because you are reading the tab under "everyone" stop, only read your buddy feed. Its pretty simple is it not?

PS. Kingkeld your profile pic is fantastic!

I agree with you guys. The journals are personal. They are our own journey and thoughts. No warnings needed. If someone chooses to read someone else's personal journal they are leaving their own thoughts and entering someone else's at their own risk. They have an option to not read it if they don't like it. Not trying to be rude, that is just my opinion.

Thank you all for your responses! I too would not use the warning statement unless absolutely necessary! Truthfully in life there is sometimes a blurred line between negative and positive. I believe it is people who care the most that do not care what is written, as long as it is truthful and not what you think someone else wants to read! Everyone needs to live, love, and laugh..

The whole purpose of journaling is to note the negative things to learn from them moving forward. Weight loss is not unicorns and glitter all the time. There are ups and downs and this site offers support for the positive and negative. It's pretending that everything is fine that got us overweight in the first place.

I agree that people should write whatever they want to in their journals posts without feeling the need to start out with a disclaimer. I do feel it's a failure of the layout of this site to include the first few lines of every post by default in the news feed. I also agree that it doesn't make sense to tell others what they should & shouldn't put in their journals, HOWEVER...there have been many days where too much of what I've seen in my feed was offputting or negative enough to make me not want to read anything else & log out of this site completely for the rest of the day.

MyFitnessPal is much better in that regard...in the news feed you only see the titles of peoples' blog posts & can choose to click & read the full entry if you want to. The only full text that appears in your feed is from FB-style status updates.
