I can relate. I just started the Atkins myself (about 10 days ago), and to my great suprise noticed that if I eat only when hungry I eat around 1100 cals a day- something I could only wish for before starting this diet. But as it seemed noting was happening but flactuations in my weight, the advice here was to go higher with the cals (more basic veggies). So for the past 2 days I am actually forcing nyself to eat....let's see if things get better....

I had 1200 one day & woke up starving the next with no weight loss. I found that eating between 1700-1900 works better for losing weight (at least for me). You may have to take a look at what your calories are coming from. It is very hard to follow atkins & not get enough protein & fat & 12-15 net carbs & still stay under 1500.

I went to a couple of nutrionionists, and they gave me diets of 800 calories. Each metabolism is different. For me that's how much I had to eat to be able to lose weight, so don't know if there's a problem in you eating 1000 calories...

Is your diet calendar accurate? If so, you need to eat more veggies - between 12-15NC. Aim for adding them to every main meal. To increase your calories add fats. And make sure you are eating enough protein for your height. Try to aim for 1500 calories. I had a hard time when I first started atkins because I was so ingrained with the stupid low calorie mantra. My advice, get over it.

If you need recipes, go to the Atkins forums. There are tons of them. That really helped me. Lots of variety.

My advice if you wanted to eat a tad more would be to increase your carbs a bit. You are undereating veggies. (Your veggie carbs just total a few net carbs - much of your carbs come from cheese and cream it looked like) And especially if you had more substantial veggies at the early part of the day you would get more veggie carbs and more fiber and more nutrients.

I don't think it is a bad thing to ride the wave of appetite suppression on the diet. I certainly did. But it may be problematic to be tooo low on calories in the long run.

If you have issues with blood sugar in insulin that probably some obese people have (like I do) it is very good way to try to control an over active appetite.

Buy dr. ATkins book and read his theory.

If you do decide to try the ATkins diet you should make sure you know a bit what it means so the book will certainly help you there as well.

I was on the Atkins Diet for 5 months. I only lost 15 pounds but for the first 2 months, I was energized, feeling great and doing good. There are some nutritional strategies that can help support the rebalancing of appetite hormones and weight gain. This includes consuming high-quality protein and foods with high caloric density such as nuts and seeds.Regular exercise program also support to regaining appetite.

You don't need to be a big meat eater. Atkins is high fat, not high protein. As I told the other poster, add more fats - cook with olive oil, coconut oil, butter. Add butter to veggies. Put heavy cream in your coffee. Eat avacados and eggs. It adds up and it makes your food taste great!

If you are pregnant then you should not do Induction on Atkins. You should be doing maintenance Atkins. The Atkins forums have more information on this. Just start a thread asking about Atkins and pregnancy.

But the problem is, there's days when I just don't want to put anything into my mouth... not even chicken - which I am an avid fan of. It's passed now - but it happens once in awhile. This is week 8 for me now, and yesterday I was ravenous. Other than that - I've been doing everything by the book. Drinking at least 8 cups of water daily, getting my foundation carbs from veggies, keeping my fats above 65%, carbs under 10% and protein between 20-30%. I guess it was just a slump because today I stepped on the scale and it read 140.6 Surprised! Still, I am hesitant to do a weigh in til I get under 140.

If u stalled on Atkins for weight loss..look into "carb nite solution". It's ultra low carb diet with 1 night a week of carbs to restart ur metabolism. Been on it 10 days..lost around 5 lbs so far and tonight is carb night for me. I don't have much weight to lose but I'm trying to lose fat which is what this diet is aimed at.

It was only a week or so stall.. but that's how atkins is - you lose in increments. I can't wait til my best friend gets back from Cuba and hears I've lost 20 lbs Very Happy
