Fruits- Missing them

The post about cranberries reminds me how much i still miss eating fruit. Summer is approaching and i love nectarines, peaches, watermelon, cherries etc. Is anyone else craving these fruits who is on the atkins plan. I might have to become a self low carber for the summer adding fruits much sooner than the 1/4 cup of blue, straw or rasp berries we are allowed in OWL.Crying or Very sad

things that i have read say that you can add fruit on the OWL step.

from my carb counter book by ATKINS...

OWL acceptable foods:
buts, seeds and nut butters
berries and other fruits (all frozen or fresh without sugar) are acceptable, as are cherries and cantaloupe, crenshaw and honeydew melon, but not watermelon

and the rest is obvious for someone on atkins...

i have actually had watermelon bc i misread this the 1st time... but it has not slowed my loss.

you can have the berries and still be consistant to atkins.

You can have fruit in OWL. Just add them in slowly to see how you react.

Pam, as you move from OWL into pre-maintenance, you will be able to add back additional fruits, if your body accepts you eating them on an occasional basis without weight gain. Once I got to w/in 10 lbs of my goal weight... the first thing I added back was apple slices and peanut butter! To me, the combo is just perfect! I can treat myself to that once a week, and be no worse for the wear! That's the beauty of maintenance. You are no longer trying to lose... you just don't want to gain. So you can combo up, and switch out some variations of your carbs that you had to go w/out in the earlier stages. You're almost there... so hang in there!!! Fruit will be in your future Smile

bad cholesterol
Red yeast rice worked for me. I now take it only intermittently, and my cholesterol is stable around 5.8. Good luck!

I think it's weight related - not a standard of so many glasses. Plus some people then add in activity level and environment variables. There's tons of calculators online.
