I am getting close to being 50 years old, and now that I am a grandmother as well, could not really keep up with the grandchildren. So I really needed to assess what was going on with me.
First I was 160 pounds at 5 feet and really was not happy with my weight or how I was looking in my clothes. So I decided to change the way I was eating and working out. I started working out but only change a few things in my food intake. After a year, I only had lose 20 pounds and still not happy with my results.
So I join fatsecret almost a year ago and also starting writing about the food I was eating, and because of the tracking that I started doing I really started to see the results. I am not weighing 123 pounds and loving my life. Had to do some shopping and now I am wearing size 6 from a size 16. I feel I got my groove back. Thank you fatsecret for all your help.
And even though my boyfriend does not stick to calories, he really enjoys the different foods we have been eating. Because we are eating something new every week, something I never did before. So I am also enjoying eating good food but keeping the weight off as well. I hope that everyone has much success as I have on here.

Congrats! You've lost about one-forth of what you were. Job well done. Pass the good food habits down to your children and grandchildren. That might be the best gift you could ever give them.

Congrats on reaching your goal. It MUST be a great feeling of accomplishment to stick with it for a year. Sounds like you've truly made a "life style" change.

First day thoughts
It's definitely possible. I gained a lot of weight with each of my pregnancies. My youngest is 9 months and in the past 7 months I've lost almost 50 lbs through diet and exercise.
