90s alternative rock - Red Hot Chili Peppers and a lot of 311 and The Strokes. My husband likes techno and electronic music to exercise too, but mainly he likes to watch Fox News when he works out.

Digging the Strokes right now too. I listen to a lot of Alternative/Hard Rock. Shinedown, Avenged Sevenfold, MGMT, Alter Bridge, Evanescence, Bad Religion.

A lot of harder edge, fast beat.

I guess I'm going to show my age here, but some of my favorites is by Huey Lewis, simply because the rhythm works well with fast walking on the treadmill. I have a good mixture between 70's rock, pop, country, etc. I'm going to try out some of these groups listed. I'm always looking to expand my music library. Good thread.

I'll review where I want to be at this point.

i workout to country music. it's kinda ironic though cause a lot of country songs are about down home country fried food. i can all ready think of 4 of the top of my head.

Though it is not the music I listen to when not working out, my running playlist is almost entirely rap and hip-hop. Lots of Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye, old P.Diddy, heck even some Run DMS and Beastie Boys. It is the only stuff that gets me pumped. (And weirdly, due to a suggestion on here a long time ago, I have Firework by Katy Perry and LOVe it when it comes on.)

Alt. rock/metal and some classic rock sprinkled in. Mostly old Linkin Park, Shinedown, A Perfect Circle, Breaking Benjamin, etc. Hard hitting music provides attitude and motivation for me.

I have to listen to stuff that is kind of calm when I go out for a jog or I can't relax at all. 80s stuff like John Cougar Mellencamp, Heart, OMD, Howard Jones or some country tunes. If my Alice in Chains or Metallica type stuff comes on I have to skip them or I feel like I get stressed. It's weird. I like that stuff when I am driving or cleaning my house.

I tend to listen to Alternative or Punk when I'm working out or running. The beat helps me keep a good pace.

I know one song I had to remove from my playlist. 22 Jacks has a song called On My Way. In the lyrics they sing "We're running in circles We're running out of breath". I swear to you every time those lyrics pop in my ear, I'm near the end of my workout trying to determine if the people in the vicinity are CPR certified.

Such a de-motivating workout song.

Whatever is playing over the YMCA speakers. I often times catch myself randomly singing "waterfalls" by TLC on the elliptical though. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

While I usually put my iPod on shuffle, I find that The Black-eyed Peas and Breaking Benjamin are a couple of my favorites to workout to! Oh, and Timbaland is always a good bet.

A really inspirational song to get a great feel for the changes you are making to yourself is Vindicated by Dashboard Confessional. Try it out.

I love "How Bad Do you Want It" by Tim McGraw. I have it timed on my workout playlist so it hits just about the time I'm hitting the wall in my HIIT workout. It reminds me that I want it REAL bad, so I keep going.
