I'm a 38 year old male, trying to lose about 50 pounds.
I just signed up today, and have been on my diet for about two weeks - lost 5 pounds the first week - nothing for week 2
Trying to cut my calorie count by 500 or more calories below my daily required caloric intake to try and lose at least a pound a week _ would love to lose more. I lost a lot of weight 5 years ago, but have gained it ALL back
I'm addicted to fast food, and spent most of the winter watching MAN VS. FOOD - but winter is over and it is time to lose weight!
Looking for new friends in the same boat, to help keep motivated in order to lose weight.

Love watching Adam slowly killing himself on MvF lol.
But you came to right place as the people here are really helpful and cool. I'm sure you'll find a few who can point you into right direction on your journey. Today just seems slow. People must be out enjoying the weather

I would like to suggest you read Why We Get Fat by Gary taubes. I've recently become a low Carb eater, and this
Book really explains why it might be a good idea.
DISCLAIMER: I expect to lose this weight over the next 6 months to 5 years. I'm not going to feel like a failure if it takes an entire month to lose 1 pound. I'm going to feel like a success when that happens! I may offer advice that I'm currently not taking myself. Feel free to call me on that!

Since your food diary & stuff isn't public only your buddies will be able to critique what you're eating. But if you share more info about what you have been doing maybe we can offer some suggestions. What foods do you like, what are your vices, what type of exercise do you do & how frequently, etc etc.

Cutting back to 500 calories seems a bit radical. I'm at 1200 calories, and I make sure I eat every 2-3 hours. I know for me that seems to be the trick. Your body has to know that it needs to burn calories for it to burn them. Keep stoking the fire and you'll lose weight. Also, 5 pounds the first week is great, 2nd week losing nothing is great too. As long as you aren't gaining weight I consider that as a victory. We all didn't gain the weight at once, can't expect us to lose it all that quickly either.
