Ok I am in the second week of Atkins induction and I stopped losing weight a few days ago. Then, last night I had an all out binge Atkins style (no carbs-put most in my diary -not in order- but stopped when I got to 1700!!!!!!). So I weigh myself this morning and I broke through my wall!!!! What the heck? So do I go back to eating 1200 calories or do I eat more? I am 5 feet and weigh 159 (according to yesterday). I have already lost 78 pounds with the help of a lap-band but the rest is up to me and the controlling of my mouth and my addiction to food.

I think 1700 is a reasonable number, and if you want to eat that much, go for it.

But, I doubt the binge is what caused the breakthrough. I'm reading the new Atkins book now. It says your weight has to stall for 4 weeks before it's really a stall. If you hadn't been weighing yourself every day, you wouldn't have known you were "stalled" even!

Congrats on your big loss!
DISCLAIMER: I expect to lose this weight over the next 6 months to 5 years. I'm not going to feel like a failure if it takes an entire month to lose 1 pound. I'm going to feel like a success when that happens! I may offer advice that I'm currently not taking myself. Feel free to call me on that!

@Trudycleal - sooki is right about the stall, but I would recommend you bring it down to 1200-1400 on days you are not exercising and up to 1700 on days that you are.
Dieting is like religion. There are the basic rules that everyone should follow. The rest you personalize to a lifestyle for the best results.

definitely at least do a healthy 'binge' day once a week or so..1700 is a good number for those, even 1800 if you want. It really helps to stoke your metabolism by doing that Smile It's what I do and I swear by it!

There are a lot of people ont the Atkins forum who swear you must be eating enough and enough calories from fat. Check out the forum "Why do stalls happen? Here is what I've learned" by whyguy

I agree with queenbe...to have a healthy 'binge' day once a week. I am not a nutritionist, and not sure how much truth is in the articles I have read.....BUT I have read to have one day a week where your calories are upped prevents your body from resetting the calories it burns when at rest (from reduced calorie diet). It seems to work for me. Congrats!!

Congratulations on breaking through your plateau! I'm with the other posters who believe that your Atkins-friendly binge didn't trigger the breakthrough, though.

Remember that your weight loss will not be a straight line. But what fun is a roller coaster that's a straight line? We need the thrills, just stay the course!

Congrats again!

ow can I lose belly fat before I get over weight I need the help now?
For me, walking (aim for 10,000 steps a day) or jogging, and eating 60g (or less) of net carbs a day dramatically reduces belly fat.
