What is legal on Phase 1

I want to try spaghetti squash with no-sugar-added spaghetti sauce thinking that it was approved during Phase 1 of the SBD. But on the southbeachdiet.com website, I think it is listed as a phase 2 food. Does anyone know for sure - I could have sworn I saw it in the Supercharged book as phase 1 but now I can't find it.

I think you are correct. I do think it's Phase 1 in Supercharged, but if I'm not mistaken I think the original book may have had tomato products listed as Phase 2. I think I remember that tomatoes were a little high in carbs. I will look in my Supercharged book tonight and let you know for sure, but I think as long as you make sure it's low sugar you're fine. If you want, you can toss some frozen veggies like broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, mushrooms, etc. into that sauce and make it more of a Primavera sauce, thereby increasing the fiber and reducing the net carbs--not to mention all the nutritional benefits of the veggies.

I don't know if you've been to the blog Kalyn's Kitchen, but she has lots of low-carb recipes and she said if she gets to missing pasta too much during Phase 1 she puts the sauce over beans. I do love the fact that we can have beans, because they make you feel like you really ate something.
