At what point do you "officially" consider yourself in a certain size?

Say you go into a store and try on 6 pairs of pants. If 4 of them fit you in one size but you have to go up a size on the other 2 what size would you actually say you are?

I was thinking about this while I was hemming pants today. I got 3 pairs of pants, all different brands, in a size 16. However, some of my size 18 pants still fit. If that was you what size would you consider yourself?

A 16!, It's terrible that sizes are so varied. It depends on what brand and from what store. Cheap jeans I wear a 14, Lee and Levis a 12 and I wear a 10 if I try on jeans from Macy's. But I know those are vanity sized. So I consider myself the size in the middle. Smile

The brands are Lee, Levis, and Old Navy.
I remember a time, about 10 years ago, when I couldn't buy jeans from Old Navy. I think that was right when they started doing plus sizes and the stores by me didn't carry them. I haven't looked at pants in an Old Navy since.

I go by levis sizing because they run true to size for me. Some say they run small. Lee and old navy run big. I would say go by the size Of your favorite jeans because you are likely to buy the same brand when you need a smaller size.

I would say you are a 16. I really hate the way pants are sized because depending on the store I go to I range anywhere from a size 16 - 22. I am comfortable saying I am in between a 16 and 18 at the moment. Check out old navy though because I found some really nice size 18 pants that fit like a dream when I was at my biggest, I really think their sizes run on the bigger size but I am not complaining.

You say you want a cheeseburger but all I hear is "I need love" - a comic strip on the fridge at work.

You have failed only when you quit trying. Until then, you're still in the act of progression. So, never quit trying and you'll never be a failure.

I will always fit into an 8 now, but Gap Long and Lean run big and I can get into a 4 there so I wear those Wink

I fit different sizes at different stores (which is so annoying by the way) so I just average it out and start from there. When I get discouraged if something doesn't fit, I try to remember that it's just a number!

If you fit into more than one thing in a 16, especially if they are different brands, you're a 16! Smile Elly is right, of course, that it ultimately doesn't make much difference, but I firmly believe in positive thinking! Smile

I'm an 8 in the waist and a 12 in the hips and thighs Smile So I split the difference and say I'm a 10.

I don't think I'll ever fit into a pair of jeans that don't have stretch because if they fit my thighs they will be huge in the waist and if they fit the waist, I will never get them over my thighs! Oh well! In the end, it doesn't make much difference as long as your booty looks cute.

Go with the size that you buy the majority of your jeans. The jeans in my closet range from a 2 to a 10P. I think the 2 was a fluke (had to buy them just b/c of the number) and the 10P are really a bit big (but still wearable). The size that will fit me the most is a 6P, so I go with that.

Lovemyboyz, look for jeans that have a wide waist band. Often times these will have more than one button. I find those jeans fit the best on the small waist/larger bum and thighs figure. And I have had several friends agree after they followed that advice Smile

Are there specific brands you buy? I found Lee Riders have a decent fit but I would like something a little more designer-like.

This brand (Angels) always seems to fit and be very flattering from behind Shock

This is almost exactly the pair I own that fits me best:

I'm a Ross, TJ Maxx and Marshalls shopper and tend to shop by style not brand. Found those at Ross, I think.

I don't have Ross here but when we move to Az we will (wink). I do have Kohl's, I am going to try to stop there tomorrow if the snow isn't bad. I do like them, the legs look narrow though. Your legs from your pictures seem proportioned to your body, my legs are thick compared to the rest.
