Finish the sentence. What would you do if you were free of the baggage you're carrying around? How would it impact your life, what would you do differently? For me, I know I'd participate in life more. I'd engage in conversation instead of hiding my face, and hurrying away. I would shop for dresses and shoes and look forward to occasions where I could get dressed up. I'd wear perfume, and make-up and fix my hair. I'd learn to roller-blade again (now I'd have to wear all the protective gear!), and I'd fit into my snowmobile suit and go snowmobiling again, and oh, ice skating! And sledding, with low-fat hot chocolate afterwards! When I'm thin, this is what I'll do again.

I will pick out new clothes without having the thought "i wonder if this will hide my fat rolls", or try on jeans without thinking "these are really low cut, they'll probably give me a muffin top"

And being on the coast, i practically live at the beach during the summer, and i'm always so envious of the girls that can RUN in a BIKINI and nothing jiggles. I wanna be that girl.

Having already been through the weight loss portion of my journey, I would like to give you a little advice...

If you're waiting to do something until you are thin, do it now! You can fix your hair, wear perfume and even have that hot chocolate, no matter what your weight is.

Life doesn't wait for you to be thin, and you shouldn't wait either. Tomorrow may never come. Enjoy today!!! Smile

If I were thin I would.... be doing exactly the same things I am now, but doing them better.

Like K8 said life doesn't wait so why should I?

You say you want a cheeseburger but all I hear is "I need love" - a comic strip on the fridge at work.

You have failed only when you quit trying. Until then, you're still in the act of progression. So, never quit trying and you'll never be a failure.

K8 has a point.. i know b/c i lived like this for a while..when i was up again in weight back in 2007 (around 230) i was so down i barely EVER wore make up, dressed like a bum, waited for me to lose weight to start caring about myself. once i had my son and decided i have to lose this weight no matter what.. i started fixing up my hair..wearing make up EVERY DAY, regardless.. and honestly it was such a boost that the weight came off easier!! weird how that worked.

Sorry, but I think I will wait until I'm thin so I can go to a public pool and go swimming. Just not happening now Smile

And I'll have to wait until I'm thin to go shopping for thin clothes so I can try them on and get the right fit. Wouldn't make sense to buy them when I'm fat.

I'll have to wait until I'm smaller than I am now to go running.. Will NOT work right now... The boobs hurt, the ankles hurt, the knees hurt, and I can't breathe.

Unfortunately, certain parts of life ARE on hold when you're fat.. It's just reality for me at least..

I just want to make a point to the person who talked about the public pool - it's terrible to feel so ashamed of how you look that you can't go do something fun. I understand not buying clothes you don't fit into - but there's no reason other than self-loathing preventing you from that pool. That's a big deal though, self-loathing. I get that. It's not so helpful though, to you or anyone else. We're not really encouraging society to have a more diverse view/understanding/acceptance of the wide range of bodies out there when anybody's who's not a size 8 or smaller hides from the world. One of the best, most empowering experiences of my life was visiting a family sauna/steam bath place in Germany years ago. Lots of public nudity, from babies to grandparents and everything in between. Nobody was pointing and laughing at the old people, or the fat people ... because guess what, they would have been pointing at almost everyone. When you see that many nude people you realize everybody's body is weird in some way or other and just to get over it and live your damn life. Not trying to be critical here, hoping this helps people in some way. I understand losing weight to get healthier. But the shame and the self-hatred is unfounded and can be totally derailing as well. Fat is nothing to be ashamed of. Depending on your weight and health, it might be something to work on. But don't hate yourself, sheesh. I bet you are beautiful trill42!

if i were thin I'd buy new TIGHT jeans and tuck in my shirt!

even more importantly, take grandkids to a water park and race them down the slide! Wouldn't think of that right now....

ive missed posts like these, i have been away from FS since i found out i was pregnant, and i will be back more regularly after my daughter is born. there wasnt a lot that i wasnt doing that i will do when i am healthier, and i do what i can. I do look forward to going on hikes without almost passing out, running after my neices and nephews, standing in the kitchen all day without achy feet. Shopping for clothes will be more enjoyable because of the added selection.
I am not ashamed of my body, my looks or my attitude, i do want to be healthier though!

Z's Mama, that's like what I experienced at the gym. When I first started going I had so much anxiety- was I fatter than everyone else? Everyone was going to stare at my huge ass while I was on the elliptical... etc. But you know what? I wasn't the biggest one. And the more I looked around, the more I realized how incredibly different everyone was. And while I was worried about my arms being disproportionately huge, I'm sure there was another woman worried about her calves!

Now, I'm one of the "fit" ones. And all I ever think when I see a larger person just starting out is "Good for you! You can do it!" Smile

Why wait to swim or roller blade? Those things could help you lose weight! Of course we have to wait to run or jog until our joints and lungs can handle it, but I started jogging at 230 pounds and never looked back Smile

I just hate to see people thinking "Oh, when I'm thin I'll be happy and go dancing and find a man and get a promotion." Because it doesn't work that way. Happiness comes from inside. You can just as easily be thin and miserable as you can be fat and happy.

I DO NOT loathe or HATE myself, are you really serious? How offensive that you came to that conclusion. I just don't like being out in public with half my clothes off when I'm fat. It's uncomfortable, and for the record, I do not like public nudity no matter what you look like. It's my preference and it doesn't make it right or wrong, it's just what makes me feel comfortable. I don't have to hate myself to have likes and dislikes. Please calm down and do not project your feelings towards yourself on to how others perceive themselves. I'm sorry but you don't know anything about me to be making such accusations.. It's really offensive

trill, I think you're taking that all a little too personally. I'm glad you don't hate yourself! A lot of us do, or have in the past. Don't mistake people expressing their own experiences as any kind of judgment on you! I'm sure it is not intended that way.

I would take my kids to an amusement park and ride all the rides with them instead of having to watch and wave!
