Hi, I used to love to dance and think this is a fun way for me to loose weight. I am looking for something fun but also effective. Is Zumba the best or are they all the same?

Check out Jazzercise.com to find a class near you. The instructors have intensive training and will guide you through safe movements. There is more variety in the music so you don't get bored. A few years ago COnsumer Reports rated it the best exercise because it includes dance, pilates, kickboxing, strength with weights, tubes and balls. Plus it is so much fun.

I second Jazzercise!!! I can't take an hour of all Latin. Plus, the Zumba instructor faces a mirror and she just stared at herself the whole time. In Jazzercise they face you and actually interact with you!

I LOVE step aerobics. It's dancey enough to be fun, challenging enough to not bore you, & versatile enough to accomodate all fitness levels. It also helps that my gym has several very good step instructors, & they are trained to instruct to all levels. At multiple points during the class they will show us a move & tell us how to do a variation if we want to challenge ourselves. You should try it! Just don't be discouraged if you don't get it right away, it can take several classes to really get the hang of it. But once you do, it's SO much fun!

It depends on what you are in to. I don't like too many moves thrown at me at once, it makes me frustrated. I really like to do Carmen Electra's strip aerobics. I have always felt sexy doing it no matter what size i was. It is a nice approach to do something new and to spice up your life. And bonus! It works! You will feel muscles you havent felt in a long time@

I personally love Zumba. I've never had an instructor that didn't face us, but I guess it just depends on the instructor. At Golds Gym, they are very interactive and do their best to get everyone moving and having fun. There are also two other programs at Golds called Total Dance Fitness and Body Jam. They are pretty awesome as well. I don't know if you have one, but there are a few dance games out there for Wii that a lot of fun. In all honesty, I think any kind of dance will be effective, just do whatever you enjoy the most!

I have Zumba dance for the wii. I just love it everyday I look forward to the workout. It has different levels and you can set a calendar for how you want your workout to look. The downfall is I have not figured out how you can see your progress on the workouts.

I love the Wii Zumba, Just Dance, and Wii Fit. I have Biggest Loser Wii game but not so crazy about it. I will on occasion toss in the Wii sports game that came with the system.....And I have warned everyone in this household that it is my Wii. I got it for the big 4-0. Don't change my settings! LOL

I have the Zumba DVDs and I love them. I like the variety. There's different types...Samba, Cumbia, Reegaeton (my favorite, Latin Hip Hop) and even African beats and more...can't remember them all, but they're all different with different music and different steps. it's fun! And because I'm in the privacy of home, I don't care if I mess up the steps or can't get it right but everytime I do them I get better at it and I sweat a ton! And the bonus is I guzzle the water at the end of the workout!

I guess it depends on the instructor, I took a Zumba class and she faced the class (not the mirror). It was really fun and definitely a tough workout. Last week was my first class and I am definitely going again tomorrow morning!

I also like Carmen Electra's strip aerobics it is well instructed and easy to follow. I have all 5 DVD's. I also do Pole Fitness, no stripping ... it's about being strong and feeling good about yourself.

Zumba dance is fantastic! Depending on your energy level, you can burn as little as 400 calories and as much as 1000 calories in a one hour session!

I Love Zumba! I am extremely uncoordinated and it only took me a week or so to learn the moves and It's fun! I also have the Wii Just Dance 1 & 2 and they are both fun and a great workout...I have noticed that they really work my midsection well...

I have zumba for the xbox 360 kinect, and it definitely is a workout. the problem is keeping up. I've done it like 4 times now and I still am not quite fast enough to keep up the entire time. It's fun though. If you're looking for something a little less enthusiastic, you might try one of the many hula workouts that are around. they're fun, and are more for toning.

Crunch Fitness puts out a Cardio Dance Blast DVD that I LOVE. I have two left feet and have a really difficult time keeping up with step aerobics and many dance videos but this one I was able to pick up quickly. The instructor, Maria, is a lot of fun - not annoying and in general it's a great workout. I think it's 45 minutes long? And you can get the DVD anywhere for about $10.
