I'm just wondering if anyone has done this diet, and what happens if you have a cheat now and then?

The hcg diet is actually working really well. Similar concept except you are getting hormones. I also have pcos and my Dr actually thought this may help with some of the hormone imbalances that restrict my weight loss.

Eating 500 calories a day will only mess up your metabolism more in the long run. But I'm sure you will lose weight, so if that's the only thing that matters (not health or keeping it off) then go for it!

I promised myself that I would NOT chime in about HCG anymore, but I just met a gal who used it and it not only threw her into early menopause but messed up her kidneys, and had she not got help the doctor said it most likely would have killed her....WHY take those chances??

To answer your intial question... No i have not used it... but from what I hear you CAN NOT cheat at all. Any cheat ruins the effects of the hormone.
I'm not sure why or how!!

I hate to say this, ladies, but our local Fox news station just did a story on this. One of their reporters decided to try it and they did a story about it. The reporter was touting how awesome it was, how much weight he lost, and that he had kept it off. He was doing it under a doctor's supervision. I was amazed and appalled that they did a story that advocated the use of hcg and that the doctor in the report was adamant about the fact that it is perfectly safe for everyone. These types of stories are the reason that this diet ahs gained on popularity and as long as doctors continue to advocate it, and state that it is safe and effective, people will continue to use it.

Here is a link to the news report:

http://www.fox2now.com/ktvi-contact-2-hcg-diet-112310,0,576917.story

Reports like these are the reason that so many people believe that this diet is safe and effective.

Personally, I would never inject myself with anything in order to lose weight. I hate needles.

Fox news? Not exactly what I'd call a bastion of unbiased opinions... But they were singing a different tune a few months ago:

Kate, I would have to agree with you....and this was the local Fox station. I was flabbergasted!!! I can not believe that a news station would be so irresponsible! Wait, I take that back....it was FOX!

Fox... CNN... Msnbc... It has nothing to do with news anymore. Just whatever sensational story will garner the most views and keep people's attention long enough to not change the channel before the ads come on. Sad really. You are right, people really buy into these things when they see them on tv.

Btw, I asked my Dr what she thought of hcg and she got visibly angry and disgusted that it is yet again a popular fad diet.

Honestly...I'm really desperate to get the weight off. I'm 29 and have sleep apnea and high blood pressure. My mom did gastric bypass and I saw how awful that was and didn't want to go that far. I really just wanted to know if I could have a bite of the birthday cake I baked for my sons 6th birthday.

Please please please, reconsider this diet. You will have serious side effects.

Look at the success stories of FatSecret members; most of us did the real way: we ate less, we ate better, and we moved more.

It takes time, but you didn't gain all the weight overnight either.

Yeah I did. I gained 100lbs in six months. I didn't come here to get trashed for the diet I chose. I came here for support. I have ate less and worked out. Never saw anything but weight gain. I thought this was a community where everyone knew the pain both emotional and physical of being over weight, the desperation and struggle to be "thin". All I'm doing is trying to find what works. I just want to feel good again. Everyone has something that works for them. I admit I may be over sensitive right now...but my feelings are hurt and I've had my fair share of that due to being "fat" for the last few years.

I'm sorry you feel this way. What has worked for me, my husband, my sister, and my sister-in-law has been eating 1200 hundred calories per day and walking 3 to 4 day a week. If you want to eat a piece of cake, eat it, just make sure you go for a walk afterwards. Trust me this ride has not been easy for us specially during the holidays.

It's not easy for anyone.... Even having had much success and still being a hundred pounds to the good, it is just as difficult for me to get serious and get started on losing the 25 I need to lose since I gained 30. Everyone has a right to how hard it is for them at whatever moment they are in. Just. Keep. Working.

I am curious (a) how you gained that much in such a short period of time (b) how you intend to maintain the weight loss once you lose the weight again (c) how you manage to eat so few calories.

I don't know anything about the diet other than it involves injecting something into your body. I stopped reading there since I knew it would be an impossible diet for me regardless of what else was involved.

Not attacking, just really curious.

Also no one is saying anything against you. Just a diet that they may or may not like, and a news networks that they don't feel are very committed to reporting the cold, hard facts.

This is a fairly friendly site. Lots of view points. Lots of information.

Many people here have been "desperate" to get the weight off. Many people have succeeded and many people have failed and many have allowed themselves to be lead down a potentially dangerous road.

There is a group for this diet if you are not going to change your mind about it. Nobody here is trying to bash you. We are worried about how safe this plan is. It would not be very nice for people to encourage you to do something we believe is harmful, unnecessary, and a waste of money. But of course you can make your own decisions as I'm sure you will.
Good luck and good health.
