I guess the title says it all. Just looking for any help or wisdom from the community. My wife is here as well.(shewulfwyn) She has finally got it into my thick skull that I need to get on track with a diet. So between her and the community I hope to become reasonably healthy. Thanks in advance!

try not to look at it as a diet, cause a diet you can go off of, this should be a new lifetime of eating healthy. On atkins you'll lose quickly and first and then steadily until you reach your goal, but then you can't go back to chucking the carbs in by the gobs, or you'll end up gaining all the weight back, this is a lifetime of changes

Lowering my sites for 2011 to losing 1 pound a week or 52 pounds in 2011 having 82 pounds to go I should be 30 pounds from my goal this time next year.

Hi bamabowhunter, does your name mean you are in Bama? Me too! Smile

This site is so wonderful. There is so much information and support here. I've had the Calorie Counter app on my droid for a while but only learned about this site a couple of weeks ago. The food diary is the easiest I have ever used and I never fail to record all my food. It is so helpful. Anytime you have a question, all you have to do is ask and you will get tons of responses.

BTW, you wife has done awesome. I am sure she is great inspiration for you. Who did her surgery?

Thanks for all the support. I am sure I will have tons of questions. But let me get started on the diet first. I have one more day before I start my carnivorous venture into the unknown! Lol Anywho thanks for the support.

Good luck bama! I just started Atkins on Monday. So far so good.

I love Atkins because I'm never hungry which was fine in the past but now I have to log all my food and make sure I eat enough or I don't lose weight so make sure you're eating enough. Pay attention to the RDI on here that it sets and enter your activity too and ideally you want to eat 20-30% less than what you burn. Hopefully it will be simple for you but I see way too many people doing Atkins, not hungry, and eating under 1000 calories a day which is very UNHEALTHY!

Good luck to you!

You fell off the wagon, don't beat yourself up. Just get back on track, go for a walk. Plan your meals, maybe work on a backup plan for your next social event so you'll do better. Soldier on!

Make your way of eating and your exercise part of your life, not a diet that will run it's course. Sounds easy but it does take commitment and effort.
