I know that in Atkins, as well as many other WOL programs, you are advised to avoid caffeine. I just can't. I have limited myself, but i can't can't cut out my coffee. The trouble i'm having is what to put IN my coffee. Before, i thought nothing of adding those super sweetened flavored creamers to my coffee. Now, it's just not worth it for me, there are too many carbs, but just adding splenda and half and half is not enough, i need an added flavor. Any ideas?

DaVinci and Torani make sugar free syrups that are great in coffee--you can get them in most coffee shops or online, and some stores like World Market carry them. Your grocery might have them as well. I use them in coffee and protein shakes.

I use the Folger's flavored coffees (Chocolate Truffle, Vanilla Biscotti, etc.) and skim milk. I use Truvia, but I don't think you can use that on Atkins because of its carb content. You would want to use a different sweetener and, of course, you can have full cream if you want it. Coffee is very good for you in limited amounts.

Try this.. shake some cinnamon on top of the coffee grounds before you brew. My friend told me about this.. it is AWESOME. I love it sooooo much.. and I bet pumpkin pie spice would be great as well.

Tiahui is right, they now say coffee is good for you and you can count 2 cups of it toward your liquid intake for the day. If you aren't on induction, try adding Almond Breeze to your coffee, it adds a nice nutty flavor. I also use torani SF syrups. Another idea would be to add a little vanilla, but some have carbs....

I use a cup of cold coffee, whey powder, and a cup of unsweetened vanilla soy milk (westsoy) for my morning drink. Shake and drink!

I also have used the Torani SF syrups and they are great. I bought them at Walmart. I have tried the Vanilla, Carmel and Raspberry. I thought I couldn't do without flavored coffee either, but I have found that putting my sweetner and the heavy cream has been very good and 1T only has 1 gram total carb. I use 1/2 T in my morning coffee.

I like the whey option! I am a personal trainer and I love coffee. For the whey, I would look for one that has a mix of carbs, protein, and a little fat. It's good too for mixing in oatmeal, yogurt, and cottage cheese.

I don't like coffee with out something else in it as well. I use flavored creamers in mine. Coffeemate makes a sugerfree Hazelnut that I just love. I'm not sure it would be an good choice for the Atkins diet but I like it.

I am a fan of Sugar Free Hazelnut syrup. I get mine through Borders Book Store. Much better quality syrup (better than Starbucks) and only about $12 for a huge bottle. I usually add steamed milk as well, but you may want to forgo that since you are on the Atkins diet.

You can also try mixing your sweeteners (half equal & half sweet & low), it tastes better when mixed or put a cinnimin stick in the coffee pot as it brews.

REMEMBER Ladies when you are on Atkins CONSUME NO MORE THEN 3 PER DAY

SPLENDA ( SUCRALOSE )
TRICIA OR SWEETLEAF
SWEET-N-LOW RO XYLITOL
THAT COUNTS FOR YOUR COFFEE IF YOU PUT CREAM SUB HEAVY WIPING CREAM
IF YOU HAVE Atkins shakes they counts as one a diet coke bottle is 2, crystal lite is 1 for every 8 oz so for every water bottle you put it in is 2 net carbs. any sf candy, syrup, protean way ect every thing counts it's all in the new book or do to Atkins .com and it to will help you as well it has helped me you are only to have 20 net carbs 12 to 15 comes from veggies

I buy the sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup at Starbucks. It cost 8 bucks for a big bottle. Most people don't realize you can buy their flavored syrups. Just ask the barista. Stay away from all those creamers. They are no good and not appropriate for Atkins. Use heavy cream instead.

The Davinci syrups *are* really good, and I think Splenda makes flavoring packets, or they used to. My mother-in-law has them in Hazlenut flavor. I've bought unsweetened soy milk at Trader Joes, and the stuff in the refrigerated section was great for chocolate (SF hershey's syrup) milk, protein shakes, and most cooking. However, I probably wouldn't buy their soymilk from the non-refrigerated section again.
