I'm curious, how many of you eat foods you hate/dislike just because they're healthy? I still eat lots of foods I enjoy, but there are some I eat simply because I think they're better for me. For example, I HATE HATE HATE V8, but I drink it about 4-5 days a week for the vitamins. Also, I'm not a huge fan of celery, yet I eat it several times throughout the week.

Nope. I don't eat anything I hate. I also hate celery and therefore won't go anywhere near it Smile

V8 isn't that great nutritionally, IMO. It is high in sodium. I believe I read that one serving has 25% of your daily sodium! Why not just take a multivitamin if you hate the taste? Or better yet, have a salad Smile

For me, it is all about finding a way of eating I can stick with for life. I believe that food is not only fuel, but also enjoyment and pleasure! I think anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves. If you hate what you're eating, eventually you will fall off and eat something else. There are plenty of healthy foods I LOVE so why would I waste time with things I hate? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, personally Smile

I HATE celery. Smile I don't eat anything I don't like, otherwise I wouldn't have stuck to it this long.

Oddly enough - yes! I just started eating fish because I know it's good for me (omega 3's and all that) plus it seems to be a healthier choice than red meat. Not doing too bad so far. I used to hate yoghurt but b/c it seemed such an easy work breakfast & good for me, I started trying to eat it anyway. Now I like it Very Happy

That being said, I would never reach for a diet coke to save on calories etc. I hate artificial sweeteners & refuse to drink anything artificially sweetened.

No here as well. Although I do eat some things that I don't particularly like such as Fiber One cereal, but I don't dislike it either. Eating cardboard worms is neutral for me.

Yes, in fact I do. I do not like yogurt, but it it frequently because it's good for you. Likewise, I drink low sodium V-8 but don't really like it. I've learned to like fish over time.Wink

Lol I hate Celery too! Terrible stringy yuckyness. I don't eat anything I don't like. I have noticed that once I cut out the junk food, my tastebuds must of changed a bit?! I do like a lot of foods that I thought I didn't like, things I had never tried but I was sure I hated. One thing I don't like is yogurt, BUT greek yogurt is de-lish! Its like a totally different food lol :] One thing I just can't seem to talk myself into still is cottage cheese o_O ... I just can't do it. Yet. Someday I will actually try it to see if I like it or not!!

Abso-freakin-lutely not. I cannot say that strongly enough.

The only way I'm able to make this work for me is that one of my diet rules is that I have to eat foods I like. If I felt like I was suffering or depriving myself to lose weight, I wouldn't last. Like bybyebirdie, I won't use artificial sweeteners, and like thechunkyone I don't do low-fat imitations of products. It's working very well for me.

I agree about the dressing. I looooooove ceasar, so I just eat less of it, and mix it better. :] non of that diet crap for me lol I am surprised as well about how much people don't like celery. Lol I tried sooooo hard, but I just couldn't do it, I buy it and let it sit til it gets bad, every single time LMAO

to be honest anything i've switched to and consider buying the fat free or reduced fat or low cal versions are things that aren't as important. I love feta cheese.. and after trying the reduced fat version i was impressed and don't mind it. so i guess it just depends.. one of my FAV dressings (oriental sesame from kraft i think?) had a fat free version.. it .. was...CRAP! and eating a salad is hard enough sometimes.. eff that .

I dont eat anything I hate. There is too much out there that is tasty that I want to eat and I dont have enough calories for.. so no way! I dont have to love something to eat it.. it can be just ok and I will eat it.. not everything has to be a party in my mouth.. but I have to like the taste.

Lol I know! I bought those spitzer things, 5 calories for 10 sprays or something like that. Awful. I just couldn't do it lol I have found that I actually prefere the low fat cheeses too, mainly with Mozzarella I have noticed. :]

I don't eat anything I hate either. I have chosen to cut way back on some things I love just because they're calorie-dense (like rice & pasta), but there is so much healthy stuff out there that is DELICIOUS.

Wow, I've never come across so many people (in one place) who don't like celery, lol. I don't go out of my way to eat things I "dislike". I was forced to eat EVERYTHING growing up, I was my mom's cooking guinea pig so I learned to tolerate ALOT of things. Lima beans make me want to rip my eyes out, but if they're mixed into something I won't go out of my way to not eat them. It's a weird thing for me. There are things I just don't get for myself but in other settings will tolerate b/c I know I can; except my die hards MAYO & PORK!! I don't budge there. Razz

I LOVE celery with cream cheese and olives. You chop the olives, mix them into the cream cheese, fill the hollow of the celery with the cream cheese mixture, lick the cream cheese mixture off the celery and put the celery back on your plate. It's DELICIOUS! Smile Needless to say, I haven't made this in a long, looooooong time.

Actually, i do not eat something i won't enjoy. It is real, i do not like to eat fruits, but i like to drink it a lot! So, i do different ways to have healthy food to add some protein & carbs. Every meal is healthy as we eat it in moderation. We need to try different type of foods. Ya, we can live while eating only fish, but our body will start to be weak. We need another food to add some healthy choices to our bodies. Smile
