As expected, I'm seeing lots of "Oh, I ate X, Y, and Z and I'm so bad!" Its important to remember that eating is not
We're all here with a single goal in mind: improving our lives. For some it's by losing, some by gaining, some just by becoming more aware of our consumption. I don't know anyone who is here because they're a bad person or as a punishment.
I first thought about encouraging people to forgive themselves, but then I realized that there's nothing to forgive
. You ate. You didn't kick puppies or set somebody's house on fire. You ate. That's all.
So instead I encourage everyone to revisit why they're doing this in the first place. Yesterday was yesterday and beating yourself up over a past you cant change isn't going to get you back on track. Stay here in this moment, which you can
control. When you think about yesterday, think about the laughs with family and friends; these are the moments that enrich our lives and make all the diet and exercise worthwhile. That's why we do it, so we can have more of those memories with our favorite people, not memories of the day's calorie count.
