Since I've started this "lifestyle change," I joined the 20 miles or more of cardio per week challenge, and my daughter and I walk 5 miles a day with her in her stroller at least 5 days per week. Today we went out for our walk. Got about 1/4 mile down the road, and about 1,000 feet right in front of me, a GIANT bear crossed the road. Needless to say, I turned around and went home, got on my four wheeler with my little one, went up to my Grandmother's and did 10.5 miles on the Elliptical instead! YIKES! I love living in the country, but days like this make me wish I lived in town.

I saw a little bear last week on my hike, and it scared me pretty good. It took me a few days to get back to hiking.
DISCLAIMER: I expect to lose this weight over the next 6 months to 5 years. I'm not going to feel like a failure if it takes an entire month to lose 1 pound. I'm going to feel like a success when that happens! I may offer advice that I'm currently not taking myself. Feel free to call me on that!

Wow, a bear?! That's crazy. I think I'd have messed my pants.

( I have to admit I did giggle a bit at the thought of a bear 'crossing the road'! Purely because that would never happen where I live.)

Bears can be really nice. I used to work at a small zoo and I took care of the bears. Nothing like climbing in a cage with 7 of them at the same time! What a rush......until you have to scoop the poop everyday.

Here is a picture from many moons ago!

We have them here in NC sometimes adn they've starting wandering into the city during the springtime because they are so hungry and because we have taken most of their natural habitat. It's scary but sad really.

Redwine-We're in upstate NY and we've got TONS of bears, I haven't walked outside since last Thursday because I wasn't over it yet. But I'm heading back out today. I've been doing the Elliptical to replace all my walking, and I've been going even further than I do walking, but I just enjoy the exercise more when I'm outside in the fresh air.
Dee/Underscore/Lee-Yes, I was FREAKED OUT!
GCram-I agree, as long as they don't feel threatened, they are pretty nice. We have a restaurant out in the woods about 3 miles from our house that the Bear that lives out of their dumpster, is an attraction for the restaurant guests, That is one happiliy fed bear, I'll tell ya that!
Average-Yes, it is sad, its happening in more and more places...
