Hi! I am here because I saw the neat app for my phone, & that led me to this website. I have been using the diaries faithfully for about two weeks. I am shocked to discover that I do not eat enough calories. I have always thought that I eat too much. There have been days that I have only eaten 300 to 600 calories...and the wrong things! I don't come close to eating a balanced diet. This has been eye-opening for me. My intentions are to eat better things...in small portions...several times per day. I am trying to kick up my activities a bit. I hope I can get my metabolism back on track. I need to drink more water, too. Wow...I have learned a lot already! I have quite a task in front of me. I love the phone app!!!

I consider the iPhone app the best use of my iphone ever. Even though I'm at the weight I would like to be after loosing about 40 pounds this year this app is keeping me where I want to be, actually I'm going to knock off another 5 pounds or so.

When I can pick a snack off the shelf of a store, scan it and see how it fits in my day I'm a fan, I can see using this app for years and years.

Welcome! I found fatsecret using my blackberry. It's probably the best app on my phone. I can honestly say that without fatsecrety I would not be doing so well in my weight loss journey. The people here are wonderful, supportive and friendly. Love it!

Yes, it's very educational isn't it? I think a lot of people eat too little- and that too can lead to weight problems! I've heard many people on this sight say they eat more now that they are dieting than they did when they gained the weight!

The generally accepted level is 1200 calories for women and 1500 for men. But if you are very heavy, you need to eat a lot more than that, even if you're losing weight Smile And it needs to be food with nutrition, not empty calories of junk!

amc8468 Did not look to see what diet you are doing bt Weight watchers obviously tells you your points and you are suppose to use them all. I am calorie counting. They have what they call the rbi or rmi something r-i on here lol it well tell you the calories you are suppose to be eating for your age height, weight, and activity level. Those may be of some help I hope. I pray for a good journey and may the Lord bless you on your way....

IMO, weight watchers is too few calories. Yes you will lose weight, but it will be difficult to maintain. That's just my take on all the commercial low cal diets. They say "never feel hungry" but I think it's bull. You're better off eating the most you can eat and still lose weight than trying to get a quick fix by eating very low calorie.

I absolutely credit FatSecret for much of my progress. It is very educational to see how many calories are in the foods I would regularly eat. The most surprising thing is that I was eating stuff that I didn't particularly care for or crave, but ate it out of convenience. Now that I know how many calories there are, and can see what else I can eat for the same or less calories, it has improved my eating quite a bit.

Just like many others, I found this site by looking for a calorie counter for my Blackberry when I decided I needed to improve my health. Losing some weight was the first step. I liked the app by itself, but when I saw the "sync" option, I wondered what that was.

The forum and journals are great. I got a lot of good ideas and information from people who were being successful.

Welcome, exercise isn't an overnight fix, it is a long term journey to be healthier. Whatever calories work for you is good. Mine like Mummydee were much lower for my size and build.
