I started this diet on 4/10/10. The first 30 days was detox and eating as if i was on the South Beach diet. I did rather well. Now I am on pharse 2 and do the shot each morning. I am having a very hard time with the calorie restriction. I am only on day 5 and have found I have been going over by 250 to 350 everyday. Is anyone else on this diet? Will I ever get use to 600 calories? Doubt

No because you are starving yourself. Hcg is a scam. You are doing untold amounts of harm to yourself by eating so little. Please rethink this drastic plan.

I agree with k8yk! 600 calories is way to few calories. You can still lose weight but you can do it in a healthy way. If you continue with 600 calories a day you might lose weight, but will be doing other harm to your body and you will have a higher risk of gaining it all back.

Hey Kate is the shot illegal? If it is how are these people getting it?

Brian Cushing of the Texans just got busted for having HCG in his system and he is suspended by the NFL and will probably lose his Rookie of the Year Award.

I know losing weight is frustrating and we say we'd do anything to lose weight, but do NOT do this.

Oh for the cry eye...sorry I just can't believe how many people are still being duped by this. Sad This is not healthy! You must eat more than 600 calories a day and you shouldn't inject yourself with anything to lose weight! Eat less and exercise, that is all you need to do!

No, it is legal for other uses, fertility issues. This is an "off label" use. It has been debunked many times. Hcg is a "banned substance" like steroids. Most people are getting it online. Som drs prescribe it. We have to remember, they make money too.

Don't bother with the shot, a doc on Fox news said it does nothing. He also said HCG was the craziest diet he ever covered.

FYI, Using prescription drugs for anything other than its intended use constitutes prescription drug abuse. I question any doctor who blatantly goes against FDA standards like this, and you should too.

He's getting to keep his award but it's banned in the NFL for being a masking agent for performance enhancers and a tipoff to steroid use. It's used by steroid users to restore normal testosterone levels during their down cycles. Manny Ramirez got busted for 50 games for it.

I know four people that did this diet and had great results. I would really appreciate to hear from others that are doing it and not the nay Sayers. My endo gave me the go ahead and totally supports it. I too was skeptic regarding this when others said they were doing this diet. However I researched it for 6 months and talked to my endo as well as a friend who is a doctor regarding this diet and both gave the go ahead. These are doctors who are not profiting from me doing the diet.

I wonder how this isn't a bigger deal to the FDA. Saying you are on this "diet" is admitting you committed a federal crime.

Of course you were "SKEPTICAL" all of the HCG people that post on here started as "SKEPTICAL", and then went on to see how starving themselves and shooting up like a heroin addict was wonderful.

Again, with the brutal honesty...stupid people following stupid "diet" promoted by stupid tv ads and stupid quack doctors. Be smarter than the stupid blind followers. Do your research and stop tormenting your body. You are smarter than that.

Another thing, why do all the HCG'rs explain the whole diet or what they're doing before they post a question. When the rest of us post, we talk as if you already know about the "diet" we are on because your doing it too, and you already understand the basics. I think this HCG is like AVON or something, you can easily become an employee and start your own business selling. Maybe it's just me, but all these posts seem the same. And honestly, I remember 1 person that said "your right, not healthy...I'll stop".

I wish you all the best, Teeny, but there's no reason to shoot up with HCG and put yourself on a starvation diet. I was researching the idea of starvation mode today, and I came across a study (that should never have been done!) about some guys who were put on very low calorie diets:

http://www.possibility.com/wiki/index.php?title=EffectsOfSemiStarvation

One guy chopped off three of his fingers from the stress of it, and this was after they started feeding him normal amounts of food. On top of that, other sources indicate that these guys lost fat (not muscle) until they got down to 5% body fat. Then, they started losing muscle. So, based on that, it seems like doing your VLCD (in itself dangerous) would accomplish the same thing as your VLCD plus your injections.

I've just found out about this study. It's as old as the HCG diet, but I think this study is still relevant where as the HCG stuff is really bunk!

The other fascinating thing about this is that these men who started out so healthy started displaying some of the mental symptoms associated with anorexia. They were eating about 50% of the calories needed to survive, and that sounds just about what the HCG protocol prescribes. So, that's not good! And, that's another reason this diet has so many naysayers.

And, we have a member here who compares injecting HCG to injecting heroin. She got good results on that, too. But, she was injecting heroin, and wouldn't you know it...she gained all that weight back!

This diet is bad news!
DISCLAIMER: I expect to lose this weight over the next 6 months to 5 years. I'm not going to feel like a failure if it takes an entire month to lose 1 pound. I'm going to feel like a success when that happens! I may offer advice that I'm currently not taking myself. Feel free to call me on that!

Restricting your calories can drastically ruin your metabolism...so when you stop the diet, you'll gain all the weight back-and you won't know how to loose weight the healthy natural way. A good author that talks about the consequence of restricting calories, learning about healing your metabloism, and a better way to loose weight is Christine Avanti. Here book is Skinny Chicks Don't Eat Salads. I highly suggest it.

teeny - I am suspicious of your presence on this website.

You signed up YESTERDAY, and have since posted two posts and one journal entry - all about the hCG diet. The first post asks if people can get used to the caloric restrictions (a possible 'feeler' post) and the other post goes one to say you know four other people who have done it and had 'great results' - and you do not want to hear any negative opinions.

You also explain how 'skeptic' you were about this diet until you researched it for 6 months (!) and talked to your endocrinologist (!!) as well as a friend who is a doctor about it.

Now, finally, your journal entry - IT'S ALL IN CAPS - and filled with the jargon I see other hCG promoters use about how you were unsure, but now everything seems okay, and how in control you feel, and how you're getting used to the starvation.

Just. Stop.

The Avon metaphor is pretty good. But I'd go with Pyramid Scheme. Only problem is, you aren't just taking people's money. You're ruining their health.

It's criminal.

I hate to even ask a question about this nutso diet, but does anyone happen to know if this HCG crap offers the injection in a different form? Such as something that dissolves in your mouth? My little cousin is starting a crazy "diet" that sounds exactly like HCG except she has the option of either taking an injection or putting something in her mouth that dissolves. She doesn't know if it's called "HCG" because, of course, she has not researched anything. All she hears is "quick fix, get skinny". I have been unsuccessful at trying to talk her out of the insanity.
