" Most craziest and dangerous Diet I have ever covered on this show" says doc. Also about the calorie restriction"starvation mode". And as far as the pregnancy hormone that you inject"it doesn't work to burn fat, has been studied since the 50's and it doesn't work". "This diet is a scam".

Yes, but they introduced it as one of the most popular recent diets.

tifany - do you have a link for this segment? I'd love to see it - and I'm sure we'd be doing a great service to all those who are on it, or are thinking of going on it to see this segment.

Unfortunately, the national coverage will probably create more demand for it. Hopefully not too many people will be harmed before it is outlawed and becomes black market like steroids.

I alos had never heard of this diet until I came to this site. I think this Hcg diet approach sounds retarded. The only thing that will probably help to stop this madness, is for those people who have suffered severe reactions/complications to start coming forward. Where are these people? Why are they quiet?

Sadly, Dr. Marc Siegel doesn't have much credibility as he's a pandemic alarmist as well as comparing Obama's health care reform to “...a form of eugenics,”. Ugh.

I'm eagerly awaiting for some reputable medical professionals to speak out against the hCG diet. For now, it seems like those for AND against this diet are not trustworthy, and that's a dang shame.

I posted this info on another thread but I'll post it here as well:

Maybe the HCG protocol is so popular simply because it works!

Since February 9th, 2010 I have lost 60 pounds of body fat, dropping from 42.75 % body fat to 30.16 % body fat as of Monday (I am having my body fat % professionally measured on a weekly basis). Throughout this period I have maintained my lean body mass. It is actually up about .5 pounds as of my measurement today. All this while on a very low calorie diet (VLCD) of 500-700 calories per day. I have not done any cardio or strength training during this period.

Could you lose that much on a VLCD without HCG? Of course!
Could you lose that much on a VLCD while preserving your LBM? I doubt it!
Could you stay on a VLCD without HCG? Maybe some of you can, but I certainly could not.

I've lost 20-25 pounds MANY times on many different diets. I have NEVER had this kind of success and have not been under 250 pounds in 15 years. In 2006 I was up to 340 pounds. On February 9th 2010, I was 300.2 pounds. This morning I was 241 pounds.

I'm not saying other diets don't work, only that Dr. Simeons HCG protocol does work and has worked for me where I have failed to persevere and keep the weight off on other diets.

If a tool works for you, then why not use it. I don't really understand how my cell phone works but that doesn't prevent me from using one. I also don't really understand how HCG really works but I will definitely keep this tool in my toolbox...

And BTW, there is no money in it for me...

that is just sad. Hopefully people will start to understand someday that their bodies are much more valuable then injecting them with hormones and starving them just to lose weight. Hopefully they will be able to bounce back correctly. Sad....

That's just plain mean.

I'd take shae's advice over some stupid fad diet any day! Insulting people personally is just childish. Getting all defensive about a ridiculous fad diet is infantile. Grow the f##k up.

To tmpfl- That was uncalled for. People are here posting their concerns about the safety of this diet, and yes, it may work for some, but not all. This whole website is a tool to utilize to encourage, motivate and generally help its members to attain a healthy lifestyle, no matter what that weight might be. If you are incapable of doing so, then perhaps you should not be here.
To Shae- you're beautiful and I encourage you to keep posting. You're doing a great job and sound like a person who genuinely cares for others. That is an inspiring quality to have.

I have a co-worker who is on the HCG protocol and he looks like crap all the time. He seems so set on it, that it's useless to try and convince him otherwise. I am a bit worried for him, as he has some early stage cardiac problems. I told him what I am doing to lose weight, and I'm hoping my weight loss will speak for itself. (13 lbs lost so far)
